Disclaimer: I do not own Stargate Atlantis.
A/N: This is my prediction to the episode 'Progeny'.
I Promise
"Stay away from her you over domineering Ancient." He shouted pulling out a gun and pointing it at the offender's head.
Oberoth guffawed, "You think yelling a petty remark at me is going to help." He didn't even look phased by John's weapon.
"And here I was thinking I was asking nicely." John said his voice tense. His arm trembling as he held the gun in place.
"John, I don't think that's helping." Elizabeth said using the calm negotiating voice she always used. But he could really see beneath the controlled exterior. To see that she was scared.
"Yes. Listen to Dr Weir. Everything will go so much more smoothly if you do." Oberoth agreed trying to convince the stubborn Colonel. "Put the weapon down and nobody will get hurt."
Only hours before this had been exciting mission. Even Elizabeth had demanded to come along.
They had come across the address in an obscure part of the database. Elizabeth, Rodney, and all the other scientists had been ecstatic about finding the information. Supposedly some Ancients had left Atlantis and had stayed in the Pegasus Galaxy. What they didn't know then was these Ancients had left Atlantis on bad terms.
They had seemed perfectly nice at first. Too nice.
John looked almost to be considering the suggestion. "How about not." He raised the gun higher. "I'll shoot."
"You had to make it the hard way." He raised his hand to his earpiece.
He shot the man and rushed forward to grab Elizabeth's hand. It reminded him of a similar situation. When Kolya held Elizabeth hostage.
"Let's get out of here?"
Elizabeth nodded looking shaken. He hated anyone who could do that to her.
He ran down hall holding her hand tightly. He promised himself this would be the last time he would let like this happen to her.
The halls looked all the same. Much like Atlantis's. He thought hard trying to remember the way out.
He looked over at her and saw her shake her head slightly at the question he was about to ask.
They started to move again but it was too late.
Guards spilled out of nowhere. Bearing down on them from every direction.
He pulled her closer. Using his body as a shield to protect her. He heard her whisper and leaned close to hear. "Don't let go."
Three short words. That meant so much.
He pulled out a 9mm. His P-90 would have been more effective. But that would have meant letting go of her. Shooting every which way, he heard a few grunts. Then the gun was out. He cursed himself for forgetting to reload.
He felt tugging as guards started pulling them away from each other. He was no match for what seemed like fifty.
"Don't worry. I'll find you." John promised as the guards pulled them further apart. More ganged up pulling their ever loosening grip apart.
And then she was gone. Her fingers slipping through his grasp. It was then she screamed. Calling for him. But there was nothing he could do and that is what was killing him.
Then even her voice faded. Oberoth came down the hall holding his wounded hand. "What are you going to do with her?" he demanded and spat in his face.
The Ancients calm demeanor never chanced but his eyes told a different story. But all he did was take out a needle. He struggled but it was no use. He felt the prick at the back of his neck.
John's last thought as the world around him blackened. Darkness closing in on him from every side. She was gone. One simple request of three small words. Yet, he had failed her.
I hope you liked the story. Please review!
