No Time For a Woman
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu Yu Hakusho. It belongs to Yoshihiro Togashi.
Hiei sat in his room in Mukuro's castle and reflected on his life. He had found his sister and his mother's tear. Those had been his two main goals in his life. He had also been on the team that won the Dark Tournament and served as a spirit detective for some time. Once Yukina had given him her tear drop he felt that his life was complete and would've ended it, but Mukuro had given him reason to live. Now he was serving as one of her body guards. She let him wander off whenever he pleased to wherever he pleased as long as he came back in time to do his job, but this had grown boring. He had fought in wars with her, helped her obtain more power, and gotten his ass kicked by her several times. As he grew older, it felt as though there was something missing in his life. He had had the feeling for a while now, but chose to ignore it. Now he wondered what it was that was missing. He had done everything that there was to be done. He was an accomplished fighter and had gained a lot of respect.
He sat there on the windowsill and thought hard until he realized that there was only one thing that he had not done yet. He had not found a mate. He used to think that love was for the weak minded, but he also used to think the same thing about friendship. Kurama, Yusuke, and Kuwabara had changed his mind about that. He also didn't have time for a mate, he had to find to take care of his own goals and problems. He had had enough to think about, without having to worry about a mate. Now that he was aging the thought of eternity seemed lonely without someone to share it with. His mate couldn't be just anyone, though. She had to be someone strong, someone who was determined, someone who was close to him. He thought about that. The only person he knew like that was Yukina, and she was out of the question seeing as though she was his sister.
Hiei thought some more. He remembered the last time he had spoken with Kurama. Kurama had teased him a lot about liking Mukuro and how the two of them would be the perfect couple. Hiei just ignored it and teased the fox about liking Botan, but the teasing annoyed him none the less. Why had it bothered him so? Because it was true. Mukuro had not only helped him fufill his life's purpose, but she had given him new reason to live. He also heard jealous remarks time and time again from Mukuro's other body guards about how she favored him, and wasn't Mukuro a strong, determined, independent woman who was close to him? Yes, she was. Hiei decided.
"Damn kitsune, he's always right." Hiei muttered as he left his room to go find Mukuro.
