Ummm... Some of you who are reading this may have only played the recent games... but if you remember from Tomb Raider 3, on the level where you get to be inside Lara's house, you should understand this... if not, well... you might be confused, but you might enjoy it anyway. :) It is supposed to be funny...

Sometimes Winston hated Lara. She was kind to him, for the most part, and he was more than kind to her, catering to her every need or desire, and doing whatever it took to ensure that she got in her desired practice for each day. Winston had been employed by Lara's family since before she was born, and felt it an obligation to continue to work for her long after her parents were deceased.

He was more than happy to do whatever she asked of him, every moment of his existence... Well, he wasn't exactly happy to do it, but he pretended to be.

One of his least favourite daily rituals was a certain part of Lara's out-door obstacle course... I think you know what I am talking about. Near the end of her timed obstacle course, there were targets that she would practice shooting. She did this at least once every single day... Clearly, and nearly without effort, she perfected this task. Therefore, she felt it necessary to upgrade to having a moving target to shoot at. What would be this moving target?? With all of her wealth and technology, the moving target for her target practice was Winston...

Each day around 10:00am, Lara would approach him. She would be grinning, and would have her pistols secured in her holsters about her hips. Without a word Winston knew what it was she wanted. She exited the room, and Winston went and got changed into his armor, with a nice target right on his chest. He would walk outside, and wait... Near the end of the obstacle course, he stood, with his silver tray ready to shield his face if he needed to.

Of course Lara used rubber bullets, or sometimes paintballs. Winston's clothing was thick, and he wore a helmet and had his tray-shield. Nevertheless, he was never able to escape recieving a few bright red welts from each day's shooting practice.

The smile Lara sported was worth the welts. He truly loved her, in a fatherly sort of way. He loved her persistence, her bravery, her wit, and her charm. He wanted to see her happy, even if the happiness he witnessed was a wicked smile produced by his own misfortune. He loved her still, which is why he agreed without argument to be her moving target.

However, no matter how much he loved her... No amount of love in the world could keep him from hating her when he felt the first shot, straight into the target on his chest.

After the target practice, Winston would go inside, change back into his black suit, and walk about the mansion, with nothing in particular to do. Lara kept to herself most of the time. She usually only spent any time near Winston if she was shooting him. Winston would spend the remaining portion of the day following Lara around with a tray, offering her tea every so often. Usually, however, he could not keep up with her, and eventually he would decide to go to bed.

The next morning he would wake up, do all of his morning routine, and hang around holding his tray. Around 10:00, after Lara had awoken and showered, she would approach him, and he would ready himself again, for the worst part of the day.

Ha ha!! I hope you enjoyed this. I just found it creepy, the way Winston was portrayed in Tomb Raider 2 and 3... Just following Lara around with a tray, and then being her moving target in Tomb Raider 3... What a weirdo... :)
