Batman enters the cave and immediately removes his cowl. He quickly updates the BatComputer after the Joker incident that occurred earlier, and gets changed before heading upstairs.
He had been out since ten and it was almost four now. The others had been out as well, but he had sent them home hours ago. Even when the Joker escaped Arkham again he made them stay home, no matter how much they wanted to come out to help. They had school the next morning (well, two of them did) and needed to sleep.
Walking up the stairs he uses his Bat senses, as his kids call it, to make sure all is well around the manor while being quiet enough not to wake anyone up. He walks up the stairs and makes his way to the first bedroom door and opens it quietly.
He sees the dark haired man quietly mumbling, and smiles to himself. Dick can't even stop talking when he's asleep, but Bruce doesn't mind. He's always loved how Dick is so energetic and optimistic. But with those traits combined he is also very chatty. It's just part of his charm. If he were quiet Bruce would know that he was about to start screaming from a nightmare, but since his eldest can be heard then he knows that the former acrobat is having pleasant dreams.
He closes the door and slowly makes his way to the second bedroom's door, and listens for the soft snoring of his second oldest child before opening the door. Jason had just started living at the manor again not too long ago, but was immediately put into Bruce's nightly check-ins. The nineteen year old is strangely calm and innocent looking when he's asleep compared to when he's awake. After deeming Jason alright for the night, he closes the door and moves onto the next one.
Quietly opening Tim's door he's met with the sight of his second youngest mumbling to himself while stirring slightly. Bruce slowly makes his way over and squats down beside the bed. He gently brushes the bangs out of his son's eyes, resting one hand on the boy's head and the other on his chest. The stirring stops, and Tim returns to his peaceful sleep. Bruce smiles as he watches the seventeen year old sleep. Tim had grown so much in the year he was gone, physically (sorta, he's still small) and emotionally. Making his own name for himself as Tim Drake-Wayne and as Red Robin can't have been easy, but he did it and he thrived just like he does with everything else. After making sure the boy wasn't going to start another nightmare he quietly makes his way out of the bedroom and to the fourth door.
He opens the door and sees Damian, Titus, and Alfred (the cat) all asleep on the bed. Titus's head perks up as he watches Bruce, but lowers it back down after deeming Bruce okay and his owner safe. Bruce smiles as he watches his youngest sleep. He wishes Talia would have brought him much sooner, but is glad to have had the time he's gotten with him and can't wait to see how the boy grows in the future. He's already come so far from the little ten year old assassin he first met. He went from a killer to a hero, and Bruce couldn't be more proud.
Bruce closes the door and makes his way to his bedroom. He gets under the covers and falls asleep immediately. He sleeps peacefully the rest of the night knowing all his little birds are safe and sound.
Because just like Batman has to patrol Gotham to make sure it's residents are safe, Bruce Wayne has to patrol Wayne Manor to make sure his boys are safe.
