Wolf-Brothers

A One-Shot by Tifa Tyndal

Summery: Kagome, I'm sorry but you just don't understand. (A Koga One-Shot)

Disclaimer: Thus is shall be in the year 2007 of our Lord that Tifa Tyndal shall not and will not hold rightful claim to the television show or Japanese manga Inuyasha.

Spoiler Warning: Uhm... Spoilers for episode 39 or 40 I think. Let's just say when Koga really enters it all (not simply by capturing Kagome).

Author's Note: I wrote this right after reading a partly sad book about wolves so if the tone is melancholy, sorry.

Kagome, I'm sorry but you just don't understand.

You tell me that revenge is useless, that I should forgive but you just don't understand.

They were my comrades, my friends, my brothers. Maybe if you were a part of the wolf tribe you'd get it, but you don't.

You don't know what makes a pack. No, we're not a village or a 'community' as you say, we're a family. Sure I didn't want them to go to Naraku's castle but you think that I stopped loving them?

Kagome, you're only a human. You don't understand wolves.

Wolves don't live alone. They live in packs, in groups, we need each other. The lone wolf is not poetic, it's heart wrenching and sad. The lone wolf is the wolf with no pack, no friends, no family. You have no idea how much that means, you've always had them.

In wolf tribes everyone bonds with everyone, we have a connection. One suffers and we all suffer--sometimes more. Can you even imagine when one of us dies? I had to suck it up. I had to go on living because I have to get justice.

You don't know how much it hurts. You don't see me cry sometimes. You can't feel my pain, my grief.

Deep inside each pack member there is this rush, this joy, of simply being part of the pack. Of knowing that you always, always have someone to count on, someone to depend on.

Do you remember when I told you that wolves mate for life? Did you stop to think there might be a reason? Wolves are loyal. Always. We're trained growing up to be faithful and loyal. We're part of the pack until we die.

You may never understand how I feel, you may never understand why. Maybe you're not meant to.

But, that's why I have to kill Naraku and Kagura. I can't disgrace their memory by doing nothing. If there was a better way I'd take it. There is no other way.

Just ask my pack, they will agree. I really did love my wolf-brothers.

Kagome, I'm sorry but you just don't understand.

THE END

So... sorry if this was too depressing. I'll post happier stuff soon! Really! ...right after posting more drama... . Anyway, currently I'm posting one-shots I've already written and the reason they aren't already posted is that I haven't prepped them or haven't found a suitable title and/or summary. I know.. lame excuses. They work for me though! I hope you enjoyed this one! P.S. if you wonder what I mean by 'prep' let me know and I'll explain my process on my profile page. -The Author
