((Casmin here! This is a darkfic I made for a friend! Hi Jasper! *waves enthusiastically* This is basically a darkfic about South Korea based on north and south divisions and all that... or something... Just... Read it, okay?))
Im Yong Soo watched in boredom as the nations in the room bickered. He usually would chime in and add to the hilarity that was a world meeting. This day, however, he felt glum. He wasn't sure why he felt this way. No, that was a lie. He knew exactly what was wrong.
"Hánguó?"
The personification of South Korea looked up at his brother Yao. The older nation known as China seemed concerned.
"You look ill" he continued. "Are you alright, aru?"
Normally Yong Soo would have put on a huge grin and made a joke. This time, however, he only managed a small smile.
"I just feel strange" he answered. "I just need a bit, if that's okay..."
He got up and excused himself from the room. He knew exactly what was wrong.
He missed his twin brother, Hyung Soo. That was all there was to it. North Korea betrayed him, hated him, tried to kill him; but Yong Soo just couldn't bring himself to hate him. He knew deep in his heart that he could never stop loving the man who had stood by him for so long. He hated feeling so weak. So alone.
South Korea began to feel dizzy as he made his way into the public bathrooms. The room started to tilt and he had to hold onto one of the sinks so that he wouldn't fall. Yong Soo's breath hitched as he glanced up into the mirror overlooking the sink. Hyung Soo was staring back at him. Panic washed over Korea was the cold eyes of his twin stared back at him. Those eyes, so full of hatred and anger.
Suddenly, instinct took over and Yong Soo did the only thing he could think of. He smashed his head into the glass, making the image disappear. The personification of South Korea relaxed himself as a small trail of blood rolled down his face. Seeing him was something that happened often. They looked so much alike that at times, Yong Soo's reflections instead showed Hyung. South Korea removed his forehead from the shattered glass and let out a shaken sigh. He suddenly felt weighed down, as if someone had placed the whole world on his shoulders.
Yong Soo slid onto his knees and broke down. He cried for the things he lost. He cried for all the people who were torn from their families due to the divide. He cried because he lost the only person in his life that ever truly cared for him. Yong Soo clenched his fists as sobs racked his body.
"Hánguó!"
South Korea looked toward the door to see Yao rushing over to him.
"What happened, aru" he asked, taking out a handkerchief and wiping the blood from his younger brothers face. "Are you alright, aru?"
Yong Soo managed to nod slightly and rubbed at his face to get rid of his tears.
"I am now, Aniki..."
The personification of China helped his younger brother up and lead him out of the bathroom. It was then that Yong Soo knew.
Hyung will always be there he realized. There's no escaping that.
He has been my friend and my enemy, but he will always be my brother; and I will never stop loving him...
((My first attempt at truly dark, eerie fanfic writing~! How was it? Drop a review and let me know how I did!
Hánguó - "South Korea" or "Korea" in Chinese
Aniki - "brother" or something... Um... Got that from my memory... It's Japanese... Right..?
Hope you enjoyed!))
