On 9/29, the US will finally get to see Series 2 on SciFi Channel. For me, it's also a sad day; the first anniversary of my father's death from cancer. Reflections on that resulted in this.

I hold your hand and lift your head up off the cold asphalt. Our eyes meet, and a lifetime passes in that look; all the things we should have done. The things we never got to do. The things we'll never get to do.
The good things…bedtime stories every night.
Picnics in the country. Maybe not every Saturday but often enough.
Ice cream to celebrate my gymnastics bronze.
Driving lessons.
Arguments over boyfriends, makeup, clothes…Jimmy Stone. Even losing the bad things feels like being cheated.
You walking me down the aisle.
Your tears of joy on becoming a grandfather.
All the things we should've had but couldn't, can't, won't.
Be at peace, Dad.
And you are.
