Sunlight.
With a wry smile and an almost indistinguishable tilt of the head, he slowly leaned back onto the warm blanket. With a sigh, his head rested against the ground, the feeling of nothing hidden beneath the cloth.
He looked up at the white sky above him, invisible but for the clear and almost translucent nothingness that continued on and on, no end even discernible from the stark snow color.
Small and slender arms folded behind a small, petite head, the also colorless locks of cream colored hair spilling across the pale white skin and blending with the background of fleece.
There he was. A speck in the universe of pure nothingness. The color white continued on and on and on, never stopping and never starting. His world was like a box made out of flimsy paper, everywhere he turned he was just a speck of white floating on a square of nothing in the middle of that stark reality he created.
There were no other life forms here, besides the whispers of long lost friends he was sure someone in a previous life had had, but none for him because like the color he was painted in he stood out and alone. Against a tide, a sea of moving hues and shades he was the concrete they walked on and the walls beneath the cracking and peeling paint.
He was the support of the universe, he was god, he was the most powerful being and at the same time he didn't even have the strength to move.
He just wanted to disappear. To float off into the whiteness that made his world and all other worlds around him. Like a piece of paper burning he wanted to crumble and spark and turn brown and black until he was pulled apart and away, floating on the soft wind currents that plagued his paper box.
He wanted to drift through the cracks in his world, into the next one where maybe there was actual color besides white. He wanted to move until he saw the thing known as light.
Then his eyes opened.
He stared up into something he had never seen before. It was like him. An image so opposite but so identical.
Black locks framing porcelain skin, dark blue eyes where his were just that blank color. And around the early being shone something that burnt his eyes so badly yet he couldn't close them, scared he would lose this strange thing happening before him.
A yellow light, bathed the man in the dark clothes as he merely stared.
White against black, one world that had only known as existence without color suddenly seeing for the first time.
Where shapes had been shades of white, a slender hand grasped another and led him up and up into the thing shining down and down.
Into the, as he would soon learn, sunlight.
