(A/N I do not own these characters. Never have and never will. Although I'd like to)

Hermione sat on the seat of her bay window looking out over the backyard. Her mind had been wondering from her friends, to school, to her parents and teachers for the past half hour. This year was to be her final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and she still didn't know what to do with her future. Hermione had no idea what job she wanted to take on once she graduated in the upcoming spring. She had thought that she wanted to be a teacher, but that dream no longer seemed appealing to her. She was now starting to think that she should join Ron and Harry in training to be Aurors. Yeah that would work she thought. I'd have an interesting and daring job and I'd still be able to stay in close touch with my friends. Hermione turned in place and looked around her small bedroom. The walls were a light purple and all of her furniture was painted white. Her curtains were a light green and her bedspread was a mixture of light pinks, yellows, blues, purples, and greens. At the moment her room was a disaster. She was in the midst of putting all of her supplies and clothing into her trunk when she had decided to take a break. Oh well, Hermione decided. I had better get back to work. I leave in two days and at the pace I'm going right now, I'll never get done in time. Just then Hermione's mom called to her from the bottom of the stairs. "Herm, honey! You're father and I are going to go out and get some supplies for dinner tonight. Finish packing and we should be home in about 15 minutes." "Okay Mom! I will, and get something good tonight okay?" Hermione answered. A few seconds later she heard the front door shut and the car engine start up. Hermione decided that it was time to finish packing. She slowly got up and walked over to the foot of her bed to where her trunk was laying. As she started putting her robes and jeans into the trunk an owl flew in through her window. Immediately Hermione noticed that this owl was not from Harry or Ron, nor was it a school owl. The owl was a dark chocolate brown with small white speckles on dotting it's back and wing feathers. It landed on the right bed post and looked at her. There was a small note attached to it's foot and Hermione pulled it off. She opened it up and as she began to read her eyes grew larger. Dear Hermione, I know that I have been rude to you these past years and I'd like to make it up somehow. Please join me for dinner tomorrow night at 7:30. Send your reply back as soon as you can. Draco Malfoy

Hermione sat in shocked silence for a while before finally considering what Malfoy had written. Was this some kind of sick joke? Malfoy has never said anything even remotely kind to me since we first met and now he's inviting me to dinner. What is going on here? Hermione sat and thought about what she had just received and slowly came to a conclusion. If this was another one of Malfoy's sick jokes she wasn't going to be the butt of it. She would get him back before he could get her. Hermione got up and walked to her desk and pulled out a pen and some parchment. She scribbled a note down and tied it to the owl's leg. The owl flew off and Hermione turned to her closet with a small grin on her face, to look for something to wear tomorrow night.

Tell me what you thought. This is my first fanfic and I'd like to know what you thought of it. Please review.
