"Who are you?" asked Toby, his voice faltering.
"You know who I am," the dark voice said, seeming to come from everywhere at once.
"I know I think you are," said Toby.
"And who is that?"
"You're the Devil."
"Well done, Toby."
"How do you know my name?"
"That is a stupid question, don't you think?"
"So you're real, then?"
The voice was silent.
"Sorry, stupid question. They-" he paused, "They say the biggest trick you ever pulled was convincing the Universe that you don't exist."
The voice was silent for a moment, "That is incorrect."
Toby furrowed his brow, "What do you mean?"
"That is not the biggest trick I ever pulled."
"Then what is?"
"The greatest trick I ever pulled was convincing the world that there is an alternative."
Toby thought for a second, "So there is no God? There's just you?"
The Beast laughed, the sound chilling Toby down to the bone, "Oh, Toby, I don't think you understand."
Toby swallowed, "Understand what?"
"I am God," the voice said.
