Hello, this is Tech Manuel with a brand new story. I've binged The rising of the Shield Hero last week and in my mind conceived the Idea to do a crossover with Fallout, more specifically Fallout 3. Anyway let's get this started shall we? The rising of the shield hero is the product of Aneko Yusagi and Fallout is owned by Bethesda studios.

Chapter 1: A better Life… Underground!

Hi, My name's Daniel Neeson. Right now I am "devil of the shield!" But it wasn't always this way. Before I was the Lone wanderer, that kid from 101 and the supposed savior of the Capital wasteland. Let's go back to how I got into this situation shall we?

It all started a year ago, I was living a pretty mundane life down in vault 101 until my father somehow left and caused an utter shit storm. Said shit storm forced me to flee my home before I could be executed by the overseer for "treason".

Once I got out I swore to go after my dad and ask him exactly what the hell he was thinking. Along the way I did a lot of good. I defused an atomic bomb, lead a slave revolt, fought an ungodly amount of raiders and mutants, hell I've even been abducted by aliens and stopped a world wide invasion!

Anyway, after all of that I found my dad, yelled at him and told him what a piece of crap he was before hugging the shit out of him. He told me about his and my mom's dream to bring pure, drinkable water back to the people of the Capital wasteland and in we did it… but not before the enclave showed up, seized the purifier, and killed my him.

They got what they deserved though, I joined the Brotherhood of Steel and beat them to a pulp saving the wasteland from their plans for genocide. After saving the day I went back to what I always did, righting wrongs and exploring the wastes.

On one particular day I decided to pay a visit to what was the old Library of Congress.

"Ah, finally found it. Now where are those records?" Doctor Madison Lee, an old friend of my parents, asked me to dig up some old experiment files from before the Great war.

While browsing I noticed a book wedged between the documents in one of the filing cabinets. "Hmm, what are you doing here?" I turn the book around and look at the title. "Tale of the four cardinal heroes? What is this, some fantasy story like Grognak? Let's see… four legendary weapons, evil monsters, medieval setting, yep just like the old Grognak comics." I smiled before thumbing through some more pages.

After a couple of minutes I could see something fishy was going on in the story, like the clear disregard for the shield hero. I had gotten to a part where all of his stuff was stolen but as I turned to the next page there was nothing but blank pages.

"Huh, must have been a printing error. Oh well, guess it's time to go back to work." I said. As I put the book down however the pages flung open and shined with a blinding white light.

"O brave heroes, please save our world!" Said a voice in front of me. As I look around I see that I was in some sort of chamber with rich tapestries and stained glass windows, making it look like one of those old world cathedrals.

"What do you mean by that?" Said someone to my left. I looked over to see three other people standing next to me. The first guy was a tall blonde with a ponytail in a red shirt who had a face that screamed lady killer. The second guy had short black hair, piercing blue eyes, and seemed indifferent to everyone, almost like he was looking right through us. Finally the last guy, the one who spoke, looked to be some sort of school boy from before the war with messy, dirty blonde hair and a concerned look on his face. The thing that struck me the most however was what was in their hands. The casanova had a spear, Mr. Dead inside held a sword, and the school boy had a bow. The hell's going on? This is just like in that book… oh God I hope it's not like the book. I look down to my arms and see my pip boy on my left arm and a grey shield on the right. "Shit…" I hissed to myself.

"all will be answered, heroes!" Stated the man from before, probably some priest. "For now this explantion should suffice: you are the four cardinal heroes and you have been summoned to save both our country and the world from certain doom. Please, will you help us?" The priest begged. I may be a bleeding heart but this is all really sudden even for me.

"I refuse. We didn't ask for this; you summoned us against our will."

"I have to agree. Say we save your world, and then you send us off? We would have done it all for nothing."

"I concur with the both of them. If you want us to save your world you'll need to make it worth our while."

"Jesus…" I sighed. These guys seem to want everything and more. Didn't they see that most of these people were one step from getting on their hands and knees?

"Please brave heroes! Allow us to escort you to our king. He may offer you further information and reasonable compensation." The priest said, getting a satisfied look form the other three and with that out of the way we made our way to where the king was. On our way I looked out of a window an took a look outside. This was a new world that's for sure, the sky was bright blue, the buildings weren't crumbling ruins, and the trees… not even Oasis could compare with how vibrant and alive they looked.

Now we were all standing in front of their king along with several other people I assumed were nobles. The others were all lax in the way they stood while I was at full attention. when I was with the Brotherhood I learned to show respect to those in charge or else I'd get an ear full from the drill instructors as well as a reprimand.

"Greetings, four cardinal heroes. I am King Aultcray Melromarc the 32nd, reigning monarch of the kingdom of Melromarc. Would you be so kind as to state your names?" Said the king in a low and authoritative voice.

"Nice to meet you your highness. I am Itsuki Kawasumi. I am seventeen years old and a highschool student. Please take care of me."

"I'm Ren Amaki, sixteen year old highschool student."

"I'm Motoyasu Kitamura, I'm twenty one and a college student. Nice to meet you as well!"

"Itsuki, Ren, And Motoyasu… interesting." said the king as he seemed to take in the names of the other three. It was obvious that he skipped over me but I decided to play it cool.

"Excuse me your highness, it seems you skipped over the last of us." Itsuki said ruining my attempt at being inconspicuous.

"Ah, your right… I apologize. What is your name sir." The king asked curtly.

"My name is Daniel Neeson your highness, I'm twenty years old and knight of the Brotherhood of Steel." I said with pride in my voice, not like the king seemed to care as he made to speak again.

"I have no doubt that the four of you are confused as to why you're all here but please, allow me to explain to you, the four cardinal heroes, why you were summoned. In short we, along with all others in the world, are in grave peril due to the Waves of calamity. Before you were summoned the first wave had struck, we held back the hordes of monsters it sent but only barely. The four of you possess the power to save our world so I beg you, great heroes, please help us in our hour of need." Stated Aultcray. Things may have looked good now but if what he said was true then I wasn't going to let this get out of hand.

"We will be compensated, right?" Questioned Motoyasu. This guy had a lot of nerve, especially after that speech.

"Yes sir Motoyasu. As we speak our greatest adventurers are arriving to join you in this audacious task."

"Alright the your highness, we will work to save your world." Stated Ren getting a smile from the king.

"Excellent! You truly are heroes of legend. The next wave will appear in a month's time but for tonight rest inside the rooms we have prepared for you. Tomorrow you will be allowed to start your quest and are free to move as you please within our borders."

"So, how'd you all end up here anyway?" Asked Motoyasu. We had all gotten together in his room In order to get to know each other.

"I was coming home from school one day when a truck hydroplaned. Before it could hit me however I found myself here." Said Itsuki.

"I was defending my best friend from a serial killer. Just as he got the upper hand I ended up here." Stated Ren, man these two were in some pretty serious situations.

"Dang man, I was dating multiple girls back home. I guess karma finally caught up to me as well as all the girls I was dating…" The casanova said sheepishly.

"What about you Daniel? What brought you here?" Asked Itsuki.

"I was looking through some filing cabinets in the Library of Congress, found a book, read it, and was enveloped in a white light." I said.

"you said you were some kind of knight right? Were you a larper?" He asked me.

"I don't know what a larper is but I am an actual knight. My order goes around and collect technology from the old world in order to use it for the good of man or to destroy it if it's too dangerous. An example of this would be my Pip boy, a literal super computer strapped to my arm." I said. This peeked everyone's interest.

"Old world? What do you mean? And why are you in a jumpsuit?" Questioned Ren.

"one, it means exactly what it means. Tech from before the great war, although based from the way you guys are dressed Japan was spared from the worst of it. Two, I was raised in a vault. For most of my life this is the only thing I ever wore so I'm quite fond of it."

"Hold up, hold up! What do you mean by the great war?" asked Motoyasu.

"You guys should know what I mean. It's kind of hard to forget how everyone nuked each other to kingdom come." I stated. This fact absolutely shocked the others.

"WHAT!? that's bullshit, we'd all be dead!" Shouted the blonde.

"relax, that was two hundred years ago. The whole world may have gone to shit but mankind survived." I said before getting a troubling idea in my head. "Actually what year is it for you guys?"

"The year is 2016 for me." Said Motoyasu.

"It's 2025." Stated Itsuki.

"The new year had just passed for me. It's 2054." Said Ren. Oh no...

"The current year is 2278. The world ended on the twenty first of October back in 2076…" I sighed.

"What happened…" asked Itsuki in disbelief.

" the cold war between China and America had reached its boiling point and someone decided to hit their big red button." with that we all collectively slumped into the couches in disbelief.

"wait, you said there was a cold war between China and the U.S.? Last I heard they were good allies." Said Motoyasu.

"What? They're still stuck in a trade war with each other." Returned Itsuki.

"You're wrong. The Russians are the ones in a cold war with America. Have been for over a century." Rebuked Ren. Their differing answers lead to an even worse realization then nuclear war.

"My God… I think we're all from separate universes."
