Title: I Love the Fall
((Mark's POV))
We walk down the street slowly. 'We' being Josh and I. The sky is cloudy today- not white fluffy clouds, but dark gray ones. I guess that's pretty normal for the middle of October. I've got my camera out, filming the people and things around us.
"Mark?" Josh asks, nudging me gently in the side. "Are you awake over there? You've been quiet for the past five minutes."
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about school stuff. Nothing too big though."
We walk on in silence, finally reaching our destination: the park. The pathways are covered in red, orange, and brown leaves. Even more are falling from the trees as a cold breeze blows through the branches.
"Why does Roger hate the fall?" Josh asks suddenly. I look at him questioningly, and he shrugs. "Roger says all the time that he hates the fall. I don't get it. I love the cool weather, and the leaves are really pretty."
"Bad stuff's happened to him around this time of the year." I reply. "It's just his thing. I don't particularly like Valentine's Day…"
"Well that's just because you've never had anyone to celebrate with, silly." He reaches over and ruffles my hair. I duck away from him quickly.
"Don't do that!"
"Why shouldn't I?" He grins. "Sorry. You just looked so adorable- your cheeks are all red from the cold and the wind messed up your hair already."
"Whatever." I roll my eyes. In that moment I don't notice Josh moving- he picks me up and carries me off the path and drops me into a pile of leaves. "Ack! What- where- Why-"
"I dropped you on a leaf pile." He says simply, sitting down next to me.
"I got that. But why the heck did you do it?" He shrugs. I sigh.
"What? I don't know! I just thought it would be funny."
"Funny like a concussion." I stick my tongue out at him. "That's about how funny you are most of the time."
"Ouch. I think that insult hurt me- look, I bet I have a bruise." He pouts and crosses his arms. I smile and stand up, brushing leaves off of myself. I reach out a hand and help him up, and as he stands he stumbles into me. "Sorry."
"Not a problem." I say before leaning forward to kiss him. "It's cold. Maybe we should go get coffee or something."
"Hot chocolate?"
"Sure." Josh grins at me and picks up my camera- I didn't realize I had dropped it. He starts running backwards down the path. "Race you to the café!"
I love the fall.
AN: Yeah, it's not really "romantic comedy" material. It's fluff. But oh well. That's just how I write: it never turns out just how I want it. This was a request from Ben, a kid in my class. I was bored so I IMed people looking for requests. Please review!
