Author's note: I'm not usually a House/Cameron shipper, but I decided to write this fic for a friend of mine who favours the pairing. The inspiration behind it was the term 'Hameron' and a certain scene in Damned If You Do (1x05).
House surveyed the glazed object on his desk with distate.
"What the hell is this?"
There was a pause as Cameron mused over the best way to answer.
"It's a ham."
The typically gentle answer caused him to sigh in frustration.
"And why is said ham on my desk?"
Her large doe eyes stared back at him in a calm, but unyielding, gaze.
"It's Christmas."
A raised eyebrow betrayed his belief in the inadequacy of the explanation.
"Riiight..."
"When I brought candy canes you said I was mocking you, when I brought lights you said it was a waste of power, when I brought tinsel you said it hurt your eyes. So this year I brought you a ham."
"As opposed to taking the hint that I didn't want anything."
She smiled, taking the retort with good humour, as her nature was wont to do.
"Everybody wants something for Christmas-"
"People tend to figure that I'm not like everybody."
The snapping response was ignored.
"-whether it's gifts, company, or even-"
She shifted forwards to gently brush his lips with her own.
"-love."
He blinked in surprise at her sudden boldness.
"I guess this beats the Santa's hat I was expecting..."
