Tada some more Legion of Superheroes. I feel I have been neglectful to this fandom.

I sat on the roof of Legion Headquarters. Staring at the stars, I glanced down at the diamond ring in my hand. I couldn't wear it unless out of my uniform but I loved it and what it stood for.

My mind then traveled to the life I was carrying. My hand lighted on my still flat abdomen. I could see the life forming there. I sighed. Suddenly the sound of the door alerted me to my husband's arrival on the roof.

"Hey, Brainy," I greeted smiling up at him. He wrapped his arms around my waist resting his chin on my shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked.

"Children," I said.

"What about them?" he asked.

"Do you want any?" I asked, leaning back against his ropey chest.

"I really haven't thought about it. Why?" I took the palm of his hand and placed his hand on my abdomen. I felt his body stiffen nervously.

"You mean?"

"Yeah. I think it's a little girl." He was silent a moment, the longer his silence grew the more worried I became.

"What if I'm no good as a father?" he finally asked, "What If I am like Mother was."

"You won't be," I reassured him, looking up into his green eyes.

"How do you know?"

"I've seen your mother. You are nothing like her." He smiled.

"Thanks, Trina." I nodded into his shoulder. We were quiet a moment longer.

"When are we going to tell everyone?" he asked breaking the silence.

"Everyone everyone, or everyone the Legion?" I asked looing up into his face. His chin rested on my head as he looked out across the city.

"The Legion first, logically, then the rest of the worlds…" his voice drifted off. He was holding something back.

"What is it, Querl?"

"Some citizens weren't thrilled that a Celestial being was marrying the decedent and pawn of Brainiac. They will absolutely panic once we tell them we are expecting and will most likely have even more followers."

"Brainy, what did I say at our wedding protests?" his face flushed green at the memory. I pulled back and looked at him in the eye. "What was it?" I prodded.

"That you didn't give a flying hog's butt what they though God approved and that's all that mattered to you and yes that included the Caluans."

"Same holds true here."

"Trina, love, I didn't think you understand. The Caluans, the people who opposed us and countless others will be trying to take the child. The Caluans because I am her father the opposing party for the same reason but different means."

"They touch a hair on our babies head I am gonna rip them to shreds." Brainy chuckled though he knew I meant every word. I leaned back into his chest again as he cradled me closer.

We were quite a bit longer when Brainy spoke again. "When we get back inside, I'm going to have to put you on inactive duty," he muttered absently. I groaned miserably.

"How long is a Caluan incubation?"

"Eleven months… approximately."

"Oh this is gonna be a long year," I groaned, my head falling back into his shoulder.

"Year?"

"Yep. You see Celestials don't have specific gestation periods. It's usually the other parties gestation time. In other words eleven month's plus the extra time after she is born to be with her mother for the nutrients I can give her. As well as my own recuperation," I said doing the math in my head.

"We'll see," he said and I could tell he was already becoming a protective father. I smiled and traced the muscles on his arm under his coat. I felt his arms tight arm around my waist.

"It's late, Trina. We need to get our rest," he said softly. I nodded in agreement but neither of us moved. We sat staring enjoying the peace and beauty of the stars.

Whelp short and sweet. Hope you enjoy it. 3 3 3
