A/N: I don't own Pokemon, or the stardust metaphor. It was inspired by the song 'Birds and Boats'.
This was just something short I thought of. I hope you enjoy it.
Blue smiled. Red noticed the way it looked sad. The way it looked crushed, ground down to nothing. When had she become so jaded?
"You're going far, Red. Further than I am, further than I will, further than I hope to."
Her voice was faux-bright. Her words betrayed her feelings, how upset she was. The look on her face told him more than words ever could.
"When I first met you, I didn't think you'd leave my galaxy. I thought you'd be in the same category as me, y'know?"
She looked at him for a moment and then looked at the sky. In Pallet town, you could see the stars more than you could anywhere else in Kanto. They'd come back here, and they didn't know how to feel about it. In Pallet town, it was quiet. In Pallet town, Blue was staying.
But it was Pallet town that Red was leaving.
"I was wrong," she continued. "So stunningly wrong. You've..you've matured, you know? Outgrown little old me. Green, too. But I always knew he would."
Red wasn't sure how this made him feel, or how he should feel. He didn't like that she was so sad.
"But, you know, I'm...okay with it. I'm okay with you moving to a different galaxy. Just..."
She paused, and smiled again. Her face was red, from the effort it took not to cry. She was holding up a front and wasn't letting go. When she finished her sentence, her voice was thick.
"Just...leave me your stardust, alright? So that I have something. Something...to remember you by."
