It's not that he's arrogant.
(He knows that he comes off like that, though.)
He tries to be confident, and all the books say to fake it until you make it, so he tries.
(He ignores the part of him that whispers, you've failed, nobody's buying your stupid little lie, because if he listens, he thinks that he can't keep doing this.)
He's terrified of the day that he'll fail.
(Because he will, won't he? He knows he will.)
So he tries to know everything, to keep it from happening.
(But when he tells others what he knows in an attempt to help, they always seem irritated, like they think that he's showing off.)
He remembers.
(But he only gets teased and called a stalker, and those who know the truth mutter something about a freakish memory.)
And when he forgets?
(Everyone acts like he's failed somehow.)
It's not that Hakuba is arrogant.
(He's quite the opposite, actually.)
(He almost wishes that he could be, though.)
(Then maybe this odd self doubt wouldn't be chewing on him like this, constant and stupid.)
