Hey guys! initianally I wanted to write a multi-chaptered stories for Layle/Keiss where things develop slowly, but for now I thought I'd upload this to see how fans respond to it, because honestly I feel that the fandom is non-existent which is a shame, I love those two ;_;

anyway, the fic happens somewhere after the half end of the game. Enjoy.

Keiss knew it all well and clear.

He knew that there's no way in hell he and Layle will be ever together. There's no way that the cool, calm, and collected Layle would ever skip a heartbeat from being too close to him, their conversations will never echo in his head for hours after they're done, he just knew that he'll never be a special person to Layle.

He knew it well and clear. That's why he also knew that the feelings he had for Layle will forever be hidden in his heart, which according to him, he's was doing a fine job at it.

Despite all that, he still couldn't help but hate Belle, because she had something he could never have; a chance of being with Layle. No matter how he looked it at, he felt a spark between the two, it could be harmless flirtation, but he knew that it wasn't to Belle. He knew how someone looks at the person they love, and he saw it in her.

"Have you seen Layle?" was the first thing Belle shouted when she happened to accidentally pass by Keiss at the capital express shuttle.

"..No." he hated it, he hated how hopelessly jealous he was of her. He tried not to, not when she was a fellow Selkie, but Keiss hated the guts out of Belle.

"Whaaat? Aren't you guys like, best friend or whatever? Bummer!" she waved her hand at him while slowly walking away, her figure was getting farther and Keiss was standing there looking at.

"Wait!"

Keiss knew that the further she got from him, the closer she did to Layle, and he had to stop it.

"Huh? What?" Belle turned back a little while still walking away.

"I said WAIT!" Keiss grabbed Belle's arm in order to stop her, he wasn't aware of what he's done and what he planned to anyway, but it was as his body moved on his own.

The two just stood there for a second.

"H-hey! Let me me go already!" Belle shouted that in agony as she jiggled her arm away and stood there looking at Keiss, as if she was waiting for an explanation.

"..Why are you looking for Layle anyway, you know you're only getting in his way." The male Selkie just stood there in doubt, not ever convinced by his own words.

"Huuuuuh? When did I ever plan to HELP him! In fact, I wanna make sure he's having troubles perusing his goals!" she went on and on about it, while he was standing still listening to her speech.

Oh yeah, she's still in that phase. Keiss poorly smirked at that thought, he knew the phases of love and he knew well where Belle stood, denial.

After a moment of silence, a confused Belle put her arms around her hips.

"You're weird." She said that and raised an eyebrow to Keiss. "I can't believe you're a close friend of Layle." she continued while walking away.

Sometimes, I can't either. Thought Keiss while looking at Belle walking away, unable to stop her this time.

And sometimes I wish I wasn't.
