Author's note: I pretty much just made this off the top of my head while I was scrounging around the Harry Potter wiki. It's pretty much Dobby being Dobby and Winky being Winky. Set in fourth year. Pretty much a slight drabble.

Dishonor

Dobby enjoyed the garments that Hermione Granger knitted him and placed around the Gryffindor Common Room. Dobby did not know how much he would enjoy the thought of a witch trying to help a measly house-elf, and the respect he held for get grew every time he found a new piece of clothing.

Everything she made was of a different color. Socks, hats, and gloves could be made in Gryffindor red, Hufflepuff yellow, Ravenclaw blue, or even Slytherin green. Dobby enjoyed this immensely, noting that Missus Granger held school spirit highly. Dobby loved working for Hogwarts and for Albus Dumbledore, so the small house-elf wore her knitted clothes in pride.

It wasn't until one day when he was forced to take the wondrous clothing off, as he found himself toppling over. The other house-elves merely sneered at him, knowing that it served him right for defying house-elf laws.

"Why do yous even wear clothes?" Winky hiccupped that very same day.

Dobby, squeaking that the clothes could get dirtied from the ground, swept them all up with magic. Picking a Gryffindor red hat, he placed the honored fabric on his head. "Winky does not understand how Dobby thinks. Dobby thinks Missus Granger is kind for this."

"Yous a bad house-elf, Dobby!"

"No! Dobby is a great, noble house-elf! Dobby loves serving those who takes him into consideration, like Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore."

The other house-elves backed away, each muttering under their breaths, agreeing with the drunken Winky. Dobby, however, continued on. "It's Dobby's duty to serve his master, yes, but Dobby appreciates kindness!"

"Yous are dishonoring your ancestors!" Winky screeched, dangerously swaying on her stool. Dobby stuck his pointed nose in the air with a huff.

"Dobby does not dishonor no one! Dobby lives for himself and those Dobby trusts!"
