Despite the surprise attack earlier it had been a pretty good day, Aang decided as he stretched out against a rock. The beach was empty and the sun was setting, so for once he didn't have to put on layers of clothing to hide his arrows.

The Fire Nation was awfully pretty at night, he thought, warm and breezy with clear skies; it was a shame this place was the enemy of the entire world right now.

"Aang?"

He smiled, somehow he knew he wouldn't be alone for long.

"Hey, Katara," he said, moving over to make room for her. She still wore her swimsuit, she hadn't put her hair back up into its topknot yet, and she looked beautiful as she sat beside him, the sunset's glow reflecting off her bronze skin.

"So..." She stretched her leg out in front of her. "Nice night, isn't it?"

"Beautiful," Aang whispered. "Er, the night, I mean!" He blushed. "So...where are Toph and Sokka?"

"Sokka's making more maps and Toph's asleep," Katara said. "And I had a feeling I'd find you here."

"Y-you did?"

"I don't know why." She smiled, laying her hand over his. "I just did." Aang's blush deepened and he instinctively moved closer, twining their fingers together.

"Well, then...I'm glad," he said. "Because such a nice night is even nicer if I get to spend it with you!"

"Yeah..." She sighed happily, and he could have sworn he saw her blush just then.

They sat in peaceful silence for the rest of the evening, remaining on the beach until long after the sky had gone completely dark.
