She giggled as she ran. Ran away from it all, the police, Lina, but most of all, from him. She loved their little charade, a childish game of cat and mouse. One so familiar, it was almost routine. Get a new objective, lure him in, tease and taunt and then, run. She swept around another corner swiftly, skidding momentarily. She caught her balance, and slowed until she came to a complete stop, looking around for a pursuer. That's when she realized, there wasn't one. She backtracked treading slowly across the polished floors; she turned quietly peering into the room she had just escaped from. Hadn't there been footsteps echoing behind her? Hadn't they always been there? Always right behind her? She peered into the darkened room it was empty. When had the voices faded? When had the sound of his pursuit disappeared? She took another step forward, and then a clenched hand grasped her shoulder from behind and swung her around. She came face to face with Asuka Jr., with him. She gasped softly as she tried to hide her face. He laughed then, a harsh laugh it echoed coldly throughout the room.
"Don't bother." He bit out as he grasped her other shoulder and shook her. She was jarred out of all coherent thought. "It's dark in here! I can't see you identity." He sneered, "So relax." Her legs started to shake as did her head, a fast motion swaying side to side as if denying the moment. "Im tired of chasing you Saint Tail." He bit out.
"But, but why?" she gasped out.
"It's been two friggan years!" he yelled out, releasing her from his grasp, for once she didn't run, nor did she laugh, the game seemed to be ending. "What's your problem anyways?" he said pinning her to the wall roughly. She lowered her eyes as if ashamed.
"I'm, afraid." She muttered.
"What could you, possibly be afraid of?" he said venomously.
"You." It came out in a whisper. "And what you'll think of me once you figure out who I am."
"Ive known who you are for awhile now." He said with a frown, shocking her. She looked up sharply.
"No! How could you? I mean…"
"As I said, it's been two years Maimi." He said with a soft laugh, all harshness melting away.
"And you…?" she stopped leaving the question, unfinished, for they both knew it's ending.
"I loved you." He said nodding. "It seems like so long ago now, but I did." She shook her head again violently, the world seemed to be spinning for her, now. And she couldn't control the sobs escaping from her lips. "Stop. Stop it! You'll hurt yourself!!" he cried as he held on to her, trying to fight her hysterics away.
"Lo…lo…. loved!?" she chocked out. He looked down, his grip on her tightening, silence echoed throughout the chamber. The moon broke through the clouds and into the window; it shone on their faces. On her tears and his pain stricken eyes. He kissed her then, it was quick and heartfelt. Tasting of tears, pain, regret and she cried out as he pulled away, turned and left. It was her that perused him finally; she turned blindly around corners, blinking back her tears. Her that cursed out loudly when he was no where to be found. Her that fell down bitterly and cried alone in the darkness. Her very first kiss was her first kiss goodbye.
