His Undoing

AN: Another drabble on Bella and Jacob's relationship.

"I don't know any other way to explain it, Jacob. I'm not allowed outside. Period." Bella pressed the phone closer to her ear, swearing she could hear the big jerk laughing at her predicament. Which, she might add, he helped get her into. "And stop laughing or I swear, I will find a way out and get even with you. Even if I run into Mike Newton and kiss him until he's red in face from loss of oxygen."

That shut him up. Good.

"Aw come on Bells, you and I both know you'd never give him the time or day."

She smirked. "Yes, I see you both have a lot in common."

"Ouch."

"You asked for it."

He laughed, the sound of rumbling thunder storms traveled through into her ear. She was half tempted to check out the window for any sign of a storm. "So, Charlie won't even let you come up to La Push?"

There stood a pause that he took as a one of contemplation. "Considering you were the one who'd gotten us the bikes. I'm not sure. Hang on." She spoke away from the receiver, probably stepping into the living room where the sound of a football game played. He strained to hear what was being said and felt a smirk pull at his lips in satisfaction.

Bella came back on within a few seconds and let out a short snort of disbelief.

"Something the matter?" He asked, possibly a little cocky.

She bit her bottom lip and plopped down on the counter. "You and Charlie must have this great bond that not even a mere daughter could break."

Jacob laughed. "I'm taking a guess that he's all too happy for you to head in my direction."

Sighing, Bella ran a hand through her hair, finger twisting a piece between her forefinger and thumb. "Like you couldn't hear what he said. It seems you are the one factor that breaks Charlie's anger. Even Renee couldn't accomplish such a feat."

"Yeah well. I'm skilled in many things."

She dropped her hand. "Except keeping that big mouth of yours closed."

"Hey, I said I was sorry, didn't I?"

"Yes, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm grounded until I graduate."

"Well that doesn't stop you from coming here."

"..and give you a reward for getting me in trouble? Yeah, right."

He gave a small whimper. Maybe if he pulled at the right strings, she'd give in."Aw come on Bells. I really miss you."

It was her turn to laugh."Should have thought about that before you got me in trouble."

Damn. She knew him too well.

"Bella..." He whispered, his voice hurt.

A long sigh. "Fine. I'll be over in a little bit. But you can just forget about cuddling with me. That ship has long since sailed." She hung up, probably heading for her shoes and jacket as he smirked at the hidden challenge. Oh, he'd just have to see about that. He may be Charlie's Achilles' heel, but he was Bella's undoing.

Just like she would always remain his.
