Love, Life and Regrets
"Oh wow, look at that one!" Susan said eagerly pointing in a window at a beautiful
white wedding dress. She frowned and turned when no one replied, "Abby?" she said
and pointed again in the window. Abby seemed dazed but smiled in reply and walked
into the bridal bouquet with Susan.
"Are you feeling okay?" Susan asked noticing that Abby was stumbling a bit, "Do you
want to go look at baby clothes instead?"
"no no, we'll see if they have this in my size" Abby said, abruptly pulling out a dress
from the rack and taking it up to the counter where the shop assistant was.
"Will you be having the wedding before you have your baby?" the shop assistant asked
noticing a very pregnant Abby.
"Yes" Abby smiled, but stumbled a bit and had to hold onto the counter to stop from
falling over. Abby walked slowly into the changing room, holding onto the wall for
balance. "Is she feeling okay?" the shop assistant asked. Susan frowned and took a
step towards the changing room where Abby was, "Abby are you okay in there?" she
didn't reply, "Abby?" Susan asked taking another step forward. ".... Abby?" she asked
again, slowly opening the door. Susan gasped and pushed the door fully open, running
into the changing room where Abby was lying collapsed on the floor. "oh my god,
Abby" Susan lifted her up slightly to check if she was breathing, "Quick call a
ambulance!" She called to the shop assistance, "Abby" she said, "open your eyes,
Abby, open your eyes" Susan looked up at the sound of ambulance sirens, and saw the
paramedics rushing towards them.
Frank was doing his usual typing at admin when Carter walked up carrying a pile of
folders. "Oh Carter, how is Abby doing?" Frank asked looking up from his computer,
"ah fine" Carter replied confused, he put the folders onto the counter, "Where is Abby?
She's supposed to be working"
"Nobody told you?"
"Told me what?" Carter said looking confused and concerned.
"Carter, Abby collapsed while out shopping with Dr. Lewis, she was rushed in by
ambulance an hour ago -" Carter didn't wait for Frank to finish, he was already
running towards the maternity ward.
He stopped running when he saw Susan sitting outside a room, she looked up at him
but didn't speak, Carter looked through the window at Abby lying in a bed. He quietly
opened the door and walked in noticing Abby was asleep. Carter sat down on the chair
beside her, he could tell she had be crying. He leaned forward and held her hand,
gently kissed it, and rested his head on the bed beside her.
