Rose Tyler said 'forever'.

In a world that's not her own, Rose lives her life working for Torchwood and saving the world, even though the world never knows or says thank you.

In her head, Rose Tyler can hear the Doctor. Sometimes she lets him do the talking, and it always gets results. Not always good ones, but definitely results. Whether it's her imagination, or her memory, or an echo of him, or even something the TARDIS left in her, she doesn't know. Most of the time she doesn't think it matters. She just knows that he'll always be there to save her, when she needs it.

In a universe that he considers his own, since he looks after it, the Doctor crashes the TARDIS. Again. And his current companion makes smart remarks, as this one usually does.

In his head, the Doctor can hear Rose. Bright and cheerful and indefatigable, and with the innocent and not-so-innocent comments she used to make. Sometimes he even answers her, which makes his companion look at him strangely. But mostly Rose just sits there. Whether it's the echoes Rose left in the TARDIS or just memory, he doesn't know. But her DNA helped to form this body he's wearing now, and he knows there'll always be a little bit of her left.

Rose Tyler said 'forever'.

Rose Tyler was right.
