Rapid Racer
Chapter 1
"And now, let the race begin!" shouted the announcer.
Rapid flashed a grin as the green light flicked on. He weaved in and out of the other racers until he had come to the "clear area" where there weren't any other contestants. He was going to win – again.
Rapid the Hedgehog was one of the fastest beings of his time. He was red, wore white gloves with a red stripe down the middle, and shoes with the same pattern and colors, and his eyes were a golden yellow. Racing was his passion, and he had won world championships about one hundred and five times; and it was about to become one hundred and six.
Rapid skidded to a halt right before the finish line. He glanced back to see where his opponents were, and then slowly walked over the finish line. This was his little "I won! I won!" ritual. He felt dancing, grinning, and shouting would be very obnoxious.
As he waited for the other beings to cross the line, some reporters came over to him. Oh great. thought Rapid, rolling his eyes. Reporters.
"Rapid sir." said one journalist. "How does it feel to win a world championship for the one hundred and sixth time?"
"Do you feel sorry for your opponents?" asked another.
The reporters crowded around him, until he finally shouted, "Enough! Leave me alone! I do have one comment however. There is a Sonic the Hedgehog I've heard about. He is supposedly very fast. The fastest thing ever. I challenge you, Sonic the Hedgehog. Please come see me at the café on 14th street. It's called the Mirla café. I hope to see you there."

Sonic watched the TV, a grin on his face.
"What is it, Sonic?" asked Tails, coming into the room.
"Oh, nothing. Just some hedgehog named Rapid challenging me. He wants me to meet him at some café called Mirla café on 14th street." said Sonic, still grinning. "I bet he thinks he's faster than me. Well, I'll definitely prove him wrong!"
Tails sighed. "Just don't get cocky."
