Here's to me and my random one-shots that could become more if they wanted...They're evil, I think they do this to me on purpose. Leave me high and dry and then when I'm getting desperate to write anything they give me a random chapter. Oh well, it's truly better than nothing. This is unbetad so if it's crap feel free to say so.

Blood pooled all around him as he cradled the blonde in his arms. His life escaping with each passing second and all he could do was smile. Sasuke petted a gentle hand through his hair and tried to smile back. He failed miserably. As Naruto's eyes slipped closed for the last time, Sasuke cried. He cried like he hadn't in ten years, cried like the day he lost his entire family. It hurt all over again.

Bright light shone into his eyes when he tried to open them and Sasuke frowned, there shouldn't be any light in this room. Even after Naruto moved in he kept their bedroom dark at all times, it was an old habit left over from his time in the Sound and it was something Naruto had learned how to accept. Darkness made him feel safe in a way the shining sun never could have and Naruto had learned to like it.

Awareness slowly returning to him, Sasuke slid a hand out across the bed to feel for his partner and was surprised to find nothing but open air. He attempted to open his eyes again and was rewarded with the pulling of tape against his eyelids.

"Wha'? Naru'o," he asked, reaching out again for someone who wasn't there. "What happened? Where am I? What's on my eyes? Where are you?" His hands met nothing but cool mattress and air on either side of him and his breathing grew ragged. "Naruto! Naruto," he yelled, beginning to claw at the bandage covering his eyes.

A firm hand stopped him before he could get the covering completely off and a quiet voice shushed him. Sasuke opened his mouth to ask but stopped himself when he realized it wasn't Naruto's hand on his forehead.

"Who are you," he asked gruffly, moving his head away from the comforting hand.

"Sasuke-kun," the soft voice whispered. "It's me, Sakura-chan, are you okay?"

"Naruto, where is he? Where am I? What's on my eyes," he questioned, words coming faster as he began to panic.

Her soft hand covered his mouth. "Shh, it's ok, you're ok. You're in the hospital and the bandage is covering you're eyes because you really strained them. How are you feeling other than that?"

His crumpled brow was the only sign of an expression on his face as he tried to notice any pain. The only thing that bothered him was the ache in his chest, the knot that made it hard for him to swallow, but he shook his head. That pain wasn't new; it just had a sharper throb today.

"Wha- wait, what about Naruto," he asked tiredly. He laid his head back against the pillow again and waited for her answer.

"Oh, um, well, he's ok…He's gone now. Um, Sasuke, I'm sorry," she whispered as she ran a calming hand through his hair.

"Well, he can come back later," he agreed before sitting up like he'd been struck by a bolt of lightning through her fingers. "What do you mean? Why are you sorry? What happened, why can't I remember," Sasuke paused as though remembering something and his arms came up to his chest. "He was in my arms and, and, and I- I brushed my-my fingers through his hair, and-and then…What? What happened?" He brought his fingers up to his hair before lowering them to grip the hand Sakura had on his shoulder.

"Where is Naruto? Where is he?" His grip on her hand tightened until Sakura was sure she could feel her bones begin to crack.

"But Sasuke, Sasuke-kun, I already told you," she cried out frantically before quieting down to whisper, "Naruto's gone."
