The prophecy about the chosen one. It is the first thing that comes to our mind after reading all the seven books.

Voldemort hears half of the prophecy. He acts according to it and loses a part of his soul and his body.

Now, it is a paradox.

If the prophecy wasn't made (except the fact there wouldn't be a story) Lord Voldemort wouldn't even think of killing some random kid!!

I understand that the author is trying to make sense that even an ordinary person can get picked for something extraordinary.. But the fact is illogical.

How is it any different than Time Turner in the wizarding world? That's my first question.

Time Turners doesn't make sense and that's why the author got rid of them.

Why doesn't anyone bother to talk about the prophecy then?

I have recently finished reading the seven Harry Potter books. I need some closure on these facts.

Repeating:

The least I know of prophecy or future telling, is that it depends on a person's decision.

The second prophecy: "It will happen tonight. The Dark Lord lies alone and friendless, abandoned by his followers. His servant has been chained these twelve years. Tonight, before midnight... the servant will break free and set out to rejoin his master. The Dark Lord will rise again with his servant's aid, greater and more terrible than ever he was."

This prophecy is based on what is really going to happen. When the decision is made. There is no fault in it.

But the first prophecy, about the chosen one: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches.. born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives…"

This prophecy was made for the dark lord. Not for the chosen one.

The dark lord had made the decision to kill a random child after learning about the prophecy.

The decision is not made by him. The decision is forced upon him.

If I'm wrong, reply with logical reasoning.

I don't mean to offend the author or the books. I 've read the books and I have questions. I don't think anyone can answer me better than fans.

Minor questions:

How is the prophecy any different than time travelling?

Does the prophecy make sense?

Does the prophecy create a paradox?

Is it another flaw in the series? If yes, is it minor or major?

Does the book completely depend on the prophecy?

If I'm not understanding something, please explain.
