That's the face of an old man who has traveled so long and so far that he pretty much forgot what a "family" was. He got Rose, he got Martha, he got Donna. They had to leave him, because they had to. But Amy and Rory?No, they haven't. Those people made sure they stayed in his life, because Amy has known him all her life and calls him family. And Rory? He trusts the Doctor because the Doctor becomes his son-in-law, and because River becomes who she is because of him. "Family" to the Doctor is an unknown word. But at that moment, that perfect, brilliant moment on that cold, Christmas night on the Pond's doorstep, the Doctor realised that he did have a family, but never knew it until Amy told him that they always have a place for him. see that face? that's the face of a man who finally realised that the people that step into his life will never leave him. That's the face of a man who didn't think he was important, because he had to leave people behind when it got too dangerous. That's the face of a man that is crying for happiness, thing that he said it was so human. But, living so much time beyond them, who said that he wasn't one?
