NOTE: This is a super short tribute I wrote to Dom DeLuise, Charles Nelson Reilly and Judith Barsi. While this is short, expect to get a good case of the feels here.

Charlie Barkin hung his head in mourning, salty tears running down his long muzzle and dripping off the tip of his nose to fall into the grass at his feet. The saline of Charlie's tears blended with the fresh morning dew as they slid down the blades of grass. He was sitting at the graves of Itchy Itchiford, Killer and Anne Marie. Sweet memories of the precious times they shared together raced through his mind as he fought the urge to sob.

"Charlie?" A voice called out.

The German Shepherd spun around and noticed Sasha walking slowly towards him. He breathed a deep sigh, "Oh Sasha, it's just you."

Sasha noticed the tears streaming down Charlie's muzzle and frowned, "Charlie, you're..."

"Just got a little something in my eye." Charlie replied, wiping his tears from his muzzle with his paws, "Even so, I still miss them with all my heart."

Sasha walked up to Charlie and placed a paw on his shoulder, "I know what you mean, I miss Itchy too."

Charlie chuckled a bit in fond remembrance, "Itch was a trip. He was the perfect foil to me. Always so neurotic and rule oriented."

Sasha nodded in agreement, "I think the two of you contrasted each other perfectly."

Charlie just smiled back at Sasha, "Killer was a pretty cool guy too once he went turncoat on Carface.. Bit of a loser, but he had a good heart deep down."

Sasha turned and faced Anne Marie's grave, "Who is Anne Marie?"

The German Shepherd frowned and swallowed a hard lump in his throat, "Just about the sweetest little orphan girl you could ever meet. She was so full of life, so energetic, so helpful, so kind, so clever. She was everything and so much more. The poor girl had her whole life ahead of her."

Charlie felt a few warm tears roll down his snout and perch on the end of his nose, forming one large drop which hung on the rim of his nostril. Sasha leaned forward and tenderly licked the tear off Charlie's nose with her tongue before it could fall to the grass, "Charlie, I'm so sorry."

Charlie blushed a little at Sasha's affectionate gesture, blinking rapidly to hold back another wave of salty tears, "Don't apologize, it isn't your fault. Sometimes, life happens, you know."

"Yeah." Sasha sighed, nuzzling Charlie softly in an attempt to cheer him up.

Charlie smiled, dragging his paws across his watery eyes, "Come on Sasha. Let's go home. Maybe we'll see them and Annabelle one day again."

"You're right, Charlie." Sasha nodded in agreement, "Someday, maybe I'll get to meet Anne Marie for myself."

And so, the German Shepherd and Irish Setter got up and walked away from the graveyard, leaving their fallen friends behind them. The end.
