Disclaimer: I...own nothing! I never will, but I can always dream.

Author's Notes: uhm, this...was an essay I wrote for school...but it was based on Larxene and Marluxia from Kingdom Hearts (Chain of Memories)...so I figured it counted as fanfiction! Read and Review please? -cookies-

Guilt. Larxene hated that word. She thought of it as a pathetic, purely human emotion, despising herself when it pulled at her heart, an unbearable, nagging feeling. She hated herself even more; she knew what she had done to earn this, what caused the haunting emptiness in her soul. How could she have hurt him so much?

It wasn't uncommon for the blue-eyed girl to say something rash without considering the long-term effects. Marluxia was her best friend, the only person in her extended adoptive family she trusted with all of her secrets. The young lady regretted those words now; the ones that flew so passionately from her mouth just a day ago.

"Marly, I hate you! You never cared, and you never will! I wish I never met you!"

How horrible she felt now, the words echoing in her mind. It was the only thing she could focus on. The words seemed engraved in the mirror whenever she caught a glance of herself; a horribly dark and cruel being unfit for the world. "I hate you…" She whimpered, stumbling in the hall as the words seemed to bold, then fade, in her mind. "You never cared…" The girl tripped and hit the wall, cringing at the impact. It was such a lie; she knew it. The image of Marluxia's laughing, little boy-like face lingered in her mind's eye. Tears welled in her eyes. "…and you never will!"

She had to find him and say sorry. It was the only thing she could think to do. "I wish…" No, she didn't. "That I never met you!" How could she have said things so cruel? No, if Larxene had never met Marluxia, there wouldn't be the memories. No end-of-the-school-year parties. No birthday gifts. No summer beach trips…no cannonball contests in July. No hot dog sword fights at their annual back-to-school party. No Christmas gift exchanges and wishes of happy years to come. No cheesy candy hearts on Valentine's Day. Larxene began to cry harder, looking around the large garden; Marluxia's favorite place.

"Marly!" She shouted in a panic. Her guilt wouldn't let her rest until…Marluxia looked up, calm green eyes watching Larxene. He let her come close enough so he could see her tears.

"Marluxia, I'm so sorry…"

No acknowledgement of her apology came until the male hugged her. In his arms, her best friend's warm embrace, did Larxene feel any better. The guild that played her mind, played how she acted, faded away until it was no more.
