Chapter 1: Demonic Greeting
The Titans gathered on the rooftop to welcome home their newbies, Daniel
and Merlina Rose, from a long vacation in New Zealand. It had been a full 2
weeks since they had left Titans Tower and every Titan awaited anxiously
for their safe return. Starfire was pacing in the air impatiently, for she
loved her dear friends.
Finally, after almost an hour of waiting, they saw a Pegasus fly in from
the setting sun. Atop it was Merlina, with Daniel behind her. "They are
home!" Star exclaimed as she flew off to greet them. They landed amidst
hugs and welcome-homes. Then Lina was greeted by someone she'd never met
in her life.
"Hey!" the blonde girl greeted, "Welcome home!" O.o' "Um..." Lina
hesitated, "Do we know you?" "This is our friend, Cri" said Cyborg, "Cri,
this is Lina and her brother Daniel." Cri shook hands with a perplexed
pair of Roses. "Uh...hi" said Lina. "Nice to meet you!" said Daniel.
Apparently, he was handling this much better than Lina. The fact that
Cri's
ice blue eyes were so piercing they seemed to just look right through her
was creeping her out. Then Travis and Umbra jumped up to their masters.
"Your cats so adorable!!!" Said Cri. "Umbra's especially cool,
although
I do
have a soft spot for anything small cute and has fur" "Uh...thanks,
Cri
was it?" said Lina. "At your service!" Cri piped with a slight, respectful
bow.
Everyone hurried to the living room to hear Lina and Daniel's story.
Even
Raven seemed a bit curious. After about 20 minutes they decided it was
dinner time and they would finish their story after they ate. "I'm
going
out
to eat tonight." Cri declared with a bit of a content look. Raven
nodded
and
went back to her book, Beastboy turned a lighter shade of green and looked
away, Starfire giggled nervously while Cyborg pretended not to hear. Robin
swallowed hard and his voice shook slightly when he spoke. "Ok Cri
since
you
wont be cooking tonight we will just order a pizza." Cri shook her
head.
"Oh
no you wont, I have some beef pot-roast and vegetable stew in the fridge. I
made them earlier today. You just need to warm them up." Beastboy
perked
up
a bit at the words "vegetable stew" and Starfire squealed in
delight.
"Friend Merlina and friend Daniel, I do hope you find Cri's
cooking
pleasing. She is the most excellent earthly chief I have ever met!"
Cri smiled at the praise and walked off.
As Cri left the room, Lina sensed something...sinister from Cri's aura.
Needless to say, Merlina officially mistrusted this...visitor. After a
dinner Lina had to say was, very good, she turned to Daniel and telepathed
him about her suspicions of Cri. Daniel telepathed back, 'Let it go, Lina.
We just got home, and we don't need to bother anyone about
this.' 'Dan!!' she mentally shouted, 'They know something they're not
telling
us! We have the same powers; you can't tell me you don't have the same
feeling.'
'As I said, sister (that should be in italics)' he responded, 'We just got
home,
and I'm tired. Just leave everyone alone.' She was about to answer, but he
shut
his mind, ending the discussion. She sighed and turned her head back to the
door. She had a really
bad feeling, and you can be sure she wasn't going to rest until she found
out why she did.
