Hey guys, I'm here with my second Lab Rats: Elite Force story! (Yay! :D) It takes place after the finale.
So I was listening to Taylor Swift's song "Never Grow Up" when I started thinking about Bree and Chase, and then this happened. ENJOY! :D
Bree sighed as she watched her little brother sleep. The day's troubles were still clearly visible on his face as his eyelids fluttered against the dream. A small whimper left his lips as he turned. Correction: against the nightmare.
"It's okay, Chasey." Bree mumbled and kissed his forehead gently, and as he once more muttered in his sleep, she found herself remembering. Remembering a time much easier. A time without grief and wars. A time more innocent. A time when her brother had been innocent.
She remembered a night when she had, just like she was now, watched her brother sleep. He'd been so young and innocent, and had only come to her because he couldn't sleep. As simple as that. No heart broken or world's fate on his shoulder or feeling of failure, just a momentary inability to fall asleep. In which he came to his sister for comfort.
She remembered how she'd been sitting in the lab, Chase's head in her lap. It had been so peaceful, so quiet. Though she'd know that would change. They were meant to do big, great things. That's what Mr. Davenport had always said. They would save the world. But despite still being a kid, Bree had always known that it would come with a price. Her brother would grow up. She didn't want him to, but he would nonetheless...
Though for the moment she had been able to pretend he wouldn't. Pretend he never would grow up. She had been able to cherish how things were. How Chase would laugh at their brother's antics, and how his face would lit up as he learnt something new, and how they would goof around the lab and beg Mr. Davenport for a bedtime story, and how much of life there had been in Chase.
All that was gone now; the years growing up had stolen it... Now he was uptight and serious all the time. Now he locked how he felt inside him. Now he was broken. The world, the enemies, the girl. They had all left cracks in him, and Bree wasn't sure how to put the pieces back together.
She missed the time when things had been so simple, so innocent. She missed watching him sleep peacefully, without the world's trouble disturbing him. She missed him being little.
Like that night in the lab. She remembered how she had brushed her fingers through his hair and bent down to whisper in his ear; please don't ever grow up, little brother. It had been a silly wish, but now, seeing her brother sleep restlessly, it blossomed up all over again.
Slowly Bree brushed her fingers through his hair as she bent over him, whispering in his ear;
"I'm sorry you had to grow up."
Hope you liked it! Reviews are always appreciated! :D
