Well here we are with a new season of Sherlock! I refuse to accept it finishes on Sunday. I got the idea for this while chatting with a good friend of mine SilverOcean01, I always feel Mycroft should have more attention so here we are with a series of Mycroft based one shots all based on Mycroft facing ordinary situations.
Disclaimer:
I sadly don't know anything if I did the show would contain a lot more Mycroft!
"Bugger," Mycroft muttered as he pulled his coat on heading hurriedly to the door. He was running horrendously late, most people he didn't mind if he kept them waiting but not even Mycroft Holmes could be late for an appointment with the Prime Minister.
"Why didn't you warm me how late it was getting? You do know my appointment times, you are my secretary are you not?" he snapped at his secretary Stephanie as he passed her desk.
"I don't believe I know many if any of your real appointments Mr Holmes and as you often reminded me in my first few months of employment here you are perfectly capable of keeping your own schedule," she answered.
Others may consider her comments to be inappropriate for the workplace but for Mycroft it was an essential part of working for him. He needed people who were able to think for and express themselves. "Quite right Stephanie," he said heading towards the door.
He only used a driver to control a situation or to make a point but he preferred to drive him
self. He cursed again when he saw the time on his dashboard as he sparked the car into life and put his foot down.
"Not now," he said frustratedly as he saw a police car coming up behind him signalling for him to pull over he really didn't have time for this.
As the officer approached the car he pulled out his identification and rolled the window down. "I am sure this will explain everything, important government business you understand," he said showing him his identification.
"Do you know what speed you were driving at sir?" glancing at the card Mycroft showed him.
"I am aware of the speed I was travelling yes -"
"And are you aware it is above the speed for this area?" the officer interrupted.
"Yes but as I said, I have a situation to deal with," he said impatiently.
"And this speeding ticket to pay," he answered.
"Young man, I hold a major position in the British government and deal with matters beyond your comprehension. I do not think giving me a ticket is necessary, now I really must go," he said. He took this to be the matter settled now all he had to do was find a way to explain his lateness to the Prime Minister.
"These are the rules your government out in place so by arguing against paying this speeding ticket is arguing against your government," he said looking at him.
Mycroft stared at the man in anger and disbelief, he really didn't have time to argue this further and to make it worse he had a point.
"So you will be paying the ticket then?" the officer said suppressing a smile.
"Obviously," Mycroft said coldly as he took the ticket from him and rolled his window back up. He was thinking this day couldn't get anymore frustrating when his phone rang and he saw the prime minister's personal line flash up. He turned the ignition off to answer the phone the last thing he needed on top of all this was another fine for talking on the phone while driving.
