Mother always told Rin to fear youkai, because they are evil and do evil things.
Then bandits came and killed Rin´s parents.
People told Rin to beware of youkai, because they are cruel and it was people in the village where she stayed that beat Rin, mocked, pulled her hair or knocked her down into muddy ricepads.
And it was a youkai, who saved Rin.
Everyone dies sooner or later. Rin died twice. And twice Rin´s life was saved by the entity Rin was told to fear and beware of. Twice, after Rin opened her eyes, leaving the darkness behind, Rin saw the same noble face.
Volwes came and killed Rin. It hurt, but not for a long time. And then he came and called Rin back. When Rin came around, a powerful arm held her.
They went to the underworld and Rin lost her life and was very afraid. But light pulled Rin back from the darkness Rin returned to life, a gentle hand held her face. The fingers of that hand were adorned with poisonous claws, that could bring death in a blink of an eye. Yet, Rin never got to feel that deadly fist on her body, opposed to the fists of the village people. People, who labelled him an evil youkai.
Whenever this „evil" youkai touched Rin, he did it with care and tenderness. How could then Rin think him merciless and cruel?
The hand that touched Rin´s face was warm and soothing.
Warm and soothing was the fluffy moko-moko, that sometimes brushed Rin´s hand or cheek. Its colour was pale white, just like white was the colour of his hair. Rin noticed, that it reflected moonlight, turning pale shade of blue. Whenever it was possible, Rin tried to touch it.
Rin didn´t fear the youkai. Rin didn´t think he was evil or merciless. He showed her more mercy that Rin knew from anyone else.
Rin just knew what was the right thing to do. And Rin was going to do that- nothing could stop her.
Rin was going to be ever there by his side. And when the time comes, Rin will be able to help him.
Because for Rin, he was the reason to live.
Absolutely.
