Just a little idea that popped into my head during 'Say the Word'. My first one-shot too. All of this is in Daryl's P.O.V.
I held the new Grimes baby girl in my arms securely. The little sucker was chugging down the bottle of milk me and that Greene's girl went to go find.
"How 'bout Lil' Asskicker?" I asked, looking down at the newborn, then at the rest of the gang. They all smiled at me, liking the ring to my nickname for her.
Everyone went their ways, putting away the new goods or getting some shut-eye. I sat on the stairs of my perch hushing the baby girl. When she finished her bottle, I put it down beside us, before I started to rock her to sleep. She let out one of those baby cries, instead of staying hushed up.
"She not going to sleep?" Carl asked. I looked up to see him standing at the bottom of the steps, staring at his baby sister.
I took out the doll that I picked up from the daycare from my jacket and started to tickle her with it. She reached those little arms out for it and pulled at it. I let go and she started to pull at it again.
"Shh, shh, come on Lil' Kicker, shh, it's time for bed," I spoke gently. The baby girl was pretty smart 'cause she fell asleep in no time.
"Looks like she likes you," Maggie said, walking up to my perch with Glenn.
I shrugged and continued to rock her, when I heard Carl laugh after Glenn told him something. Looking up at the two of them, I spoke, "Say that again."
Glenn swallowed nervously, before speaking with some confidence. "I said, "Hey look, Uncle Daryl's good with kids.""
I glared at him, making him squirm a bit. I scoffed, a small smile on my face. "Shut up, China-man."
