His mannerism was all off everybody was saying it that day. Shaky hands, erratic, unpredictable. It was so unusual for Kelly.

The only one how had the balls to ask Kelly what was wrong with him was Hermann the irony in that was he had none."You all right Lieutenant?"

"Yer I'm fine why?" Kelly replied his voice jumpy and switching from different pitches.

Cruz and Otis added by saying "Because you look like you are regretting a really horrible prank and it's about to happen, or your in some serious shit. Which one?".

"God it's the prank isn't it, after all these years you want to get back at us don't you?" Otis kept talking but Kelly blocked all the guys talking out.

The men kept talking even after Kelly walked out, where he met Shay by her rig.

"Shay! I need help, I'm going to talk to Matt today. What do I say, what do I do." Kelly was erratic and talking at the speed of light.

"Right, first off calm down, secondly I'll call Lakeshore and get a bed set up for you." She responded with hoping the sarcasm would make him laugh.

"How the fricking hell am I supposed to calm down when you say things like that."

When he finished talking Shay couldn't control herself at Kelly trying to keep his voice at a normal tone.

Kelly was sweating and shaking, pacing back and forth in between truck and squad fire trucks; when he asked to speak to Matt in private. He was going to ask if he could propose to Elise. He called Matt and his voice was jumpy and unusually high.

"You get kicked in the balls or something? Why is your voice so high?" Matt directed questions to Kelly making him more nervous than he already was.

"Hey as Elise's father I would like your permission to marry her." Kelly hands were shaking and he was biting his nails right to the buds.

Matt waited 3 or 4 minutes to answer the question, he wasn't sure if Kelly was joking or not. The wait was agonising, dead silence all Kelly could here was his heart pounding its way through his chest and the fucking annoying ticking of the clock. Finally Casey responded "Yes. But if I ever see her sign a divorce paper, cry or have her heart broken by you, we'll be planning a funeral if they can fix your body for an open casket."

Kelly thought that with Matt saying yes it would calm him nerves, but it hardly made an effect.

Kelly nodded and jokingly called Matt dad which he didn't take kindly too. "So I get to call you dad now?" He thought that a little humour would defuse the weird atmosphere around both of them, but of course it didn't.

Shay had waited around the corner and heard everything what was said. After Matt had walked away and Kelly let out a sigh of relief she jumped out from where she was and pound on Kelly making him jump about 10ft.

"Fucking hell Shay, you want to kill me or something." Kelly practical yelled then it echoed through the house.

"Hey at least Matt didn't kill you, do you want me to cancel your bed at Lakeshore?"
