Summary: Radek musters the courage to go and save a friend trapped at the bottom of the ocean. A small scene to go with the episode 'Grace Under Pressure'. Gen fic.
Radek was terrified.
His hands shook slightly as he tried not to show how afraid he was of going into the water. Even though he'd be inside a puddle jumper, it was already proven that they could-and did-sink. If they were to become in the same predicament as Rodney, then he would be the weakest of them all.
He was utterly convinced that he wouldn't be useful on the trip whatsoever, and yet...
Here he was, packing.
"Dr. Zalenka, I got you your laptop from the lab," Miko pressed the laptop to him, and he smiled at her, though it was rather shakey. "I also wanted to say...good luck."
"Thanks," He said, quietly, packing his laptop last. He clicked his radio. "Dr. Weir? Major Sheppard? I'm ready to go,"
"Excellent, Dr. Zalenka. Major Sheppard is in the jumper bay. The jumper should be ready to leave in about five minutes," She informed him.
How could she be so calm?
He grabbed his bags, and prepared to leave to go and save a friend. A friend who was more often than not a pain in the ass. But a friend.
One who was currently trapped at the bottom of the ocean.
He took a deep breath, and let it out slowly, thinking that if this was to work...
Then Dr. Rodney McKay, Ph.D., Ph.D, was SO going to owe him one.
With that thought in mind, he gave a reluctant grim smile, as he headed off to the jumper bay.
He had a friend to save.
And damn if he was going to let him down.
