Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, Satoshi Tajiri, and Ken Sugimori, this fanfiction, and my OCs, Joel and Yuki, are owned by me.

Yuki and Joel liked each other. That was something they couldn't deny. So when Yuki had asked him on a date, Joel responded with a joyful "yes", and a flush of his face, only for Yuki to laugh and tell him how adorable he was. The two had agreed to meet near Santalune forest, and then go and catch pokemon together.

"You said you wanted to catch a flying type, right? You'll definitely find one there," Yuki had said when he asked Joel out.

Joel was the first to arrive, with his espeon, Psiana trotting beside him. Yuki arrived a few minutes later, his ponyta safely tucked away in her pokeball.

"Ready to go?" Yuki asked.

"Yeah. Hope I'll catch something good." Joel replied nervously.

Santalune forest was incredibly lively at night. The moonlight passing through the trees lit up patches of grass, revealing the many caterpie, fletchlings and pikachus, as if their respective "Pika!" cries and chirrups didn't give them away already.

Joel and Yuki wandered around together, looking for pokemon they could catch…

"Pika!" a pikachu burst out of a grassy patch, its cheeks lit with sparks as it prepared for battle.

Yuki was the first to take action. "Go! Ponyta!" he shouted, throwing the pokeball to release his pokemon.

Joel yelped and hid behind Yuki, trembling.

Yuki looked around at him. "What's the matter?" he asked, unsure what to make of this reaction.

"G-get rid…of it…Just…get rid of it!" Joel responded, his eyes wide in sheer terror.

Yuki nodded and turned back to his ponyta. "Use flamethrower!" he commanded.

Ponyta spat a stream of crimson flame from her mouth. The pikachu was engulfed in the blast, crying out as it was hit. It recovered from the attack quickly, though, and hit back with a volt tackle. Ponyta cried out as the small pokemon rammed into her.

"Ponyta! Are you alright?!" Yuki shouted worriedly.

"Ponyta…" she whinnied in reply, getting back on her feet.

"Right, now use flare blitz!" Yuki commanded. It was a risky move, but it would definitely do enough damage to take the pikachu out. It seemed like a waste to do this when it seemed like such a strong pokemon, but he wanted to get it out of the way for Joel's sake.

"Pika!" the pikachu cried, as it was rammed full force by Ponyta. It collapsed after much fanfare, staggering around, before its body gave out and it fainted.

"Good job, Ponyta. Now, return!" Yuki said, beaming her back into her pokeball.

Joel fell to his knees, trembling and crying uncontrollably. Yuki knelt down to his level, wrapping his arms gently around his date.

"What's the matter?" he asked tentatively. "Were you really that scared?"

Through broken sobs, Joel managed to get out the words "Y-yes. Electric type pokemon terrify me to no end, I just-" He was interrupted by another sob.

Yuki held him tighter, making soothing sounds until Joel's crying relented for a minute. "You're scared of electric types? Why didn't you say so? We could've gone somewhere else," he said.

"I didn't want to seem like a coward," he said shyly. "I had the childish idea that if you were with me, I wouldn't be as scared. But now look at me, unable to keep myself together at the sight of a pikachu."

Yuki helped him to his feet. "Tell me." He said.

"Tell you what?"

"Tell me why you're so scared of electric types. I'm sure it's not because you're a coward," Yuki said gently. But he then hesitated as he said "If it's really too traumatic for you to go through again, then you—"

Joel wiped his eyes and shook his head. "No. I'll tell you. It was bound to come out sooner or later," he began. "It…happened when I was really little. My teacher bought some pokemon trainers in to show us what a battle was like. One of the trainers had a pikachu, and tried to attack the other trainer's pokemon with thunderbolt. But the thunderbolt missed and hit me instead, and it was so powerful that I…" He trailed off, unable to continue.

Yuki pulled him close, hugging him tightly. "Hey, that's a perfectly good reason to be scared of electric types," he began. "But as long as I'm with you, you don't need to be scared."

Joel hugged him back. "Really? Why not?" he asked timidly.

"Because if any more scary electric types show up, I'll protect you from them!" Yuki laughed. "So stay with me, and you'll be fine. OK?"

"OK. Thanks, Yuki," Joel replied, a blush and smile on his face.

More Pokemon, and more jazzshipping, as I promised in my previous fic. As said before, let me know if you want your OC in a story with them! Also please review, I really need some advice on how to improve my writing. I don't know what I'll write next, but whatever it is, it'll be something good! Bye~
