Hogwarts at sunrise was magnificent.
Not that it was not so any other time, but at sunrise, the castle seemed to glow. Minerva loved to see the tower tops lit up one by one, turning from the gloomy grey of twilight to the brilliant gold of a new day. The glass windows here and there gleamed in the sunlight, bringing liveliness to the stone structure.
Further away, the Forbidden Forest too lost some of its darkness at dawn, its murky depth merely a font of tranquillity in the summer rays. Only the charred cabin at its edge hinted at the destruction, the unrest, the overwhelming loss.
The sun was stretching across the lawn, spreading towards the Lake. Water sparkled under the light, forming a dance that dazzled the eyes. Minerva almost turned away, except then she would have lost sight of the bright, solid slab of marble standing proudly, as spectacular as the one it held memorial for.
Sometimes it was worth looking into the sun and be blinded. Pity the most radiant of stars always fell so fast.
