The HP Universe belongs to the marvelous J.K. Rowling. Storyline and most of the first 6 chapters belong to Naurgurl; I just adopted it.
CHAPTER ONE:
On Hermione Granger's eleventh birthday, she awoke to the excited voices of her parents and a pile of presents on the end of her bed. She ripped open the packages to find a new jumper, some arithmetic and language textbooks and some fiction novels. Her parents had another surprise for her too: a trip to Shaftesbury Avenue to go to the theater. Hermione got dressed, ate a healthy breakfast, and left her cozy little house all without noticing the letter with emerald ink that had appeared on her nightstand.
Later that afternoon, Hermione and her parents strolled down Shaftesbury Avenue.
"Mum, Dad, thank you so much! This has been the best birthday ever," Hermione exclaimed.
Her parents chuckled and hugged her fondly. At that very moment, Hermione spotted something strange. A boy about her age, with silvery blonde hair was staring at her. When she returned his gaze, an oddly dressed man with the same silvery blonde hair- probably the boy's father- grabbed the boy and briskly marched him through the door of a little pub that even she knew was a bad place. Perplexed, she let her parents guide her to the car and they drove home.
By the time they got home, it was well past Hermione's bedtime. Exhausted, she flopped onto her bed. She looked at the nightstand and saw the strange letter. As she picked it up, she read the beautiful emerald ink:
Hermione Jean Granger
Little Upstairs Bedroom
Heathgate, Meadway,
Hampstead Garden Suburb
London.
Hermione yelled for her mother. Her mother came running in and Hermione held out the odd letter to her mother.
"Now, how would these people know you live in the upstairs bedroom," her mom said as she turned over the letter, "and what in heaven's name is Hogwarts School of…" Her mother stopped and looked up. "Hogwarts School…of Witchcraft and Wizardry?"
Hermione grabbed the letter and ripped it open. She pulled out a long letter written in emerald ink and on heavy parchment. She read it aloud.
"Dear Ms. Granger,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment, and directions to platform 9 3/4. Term begins on September 1st. No need to send an owl, we know if you are coming.
Yours Sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall"
Hermione was befuddled. Was this a joke? Was she a witch? Why would this McGonagall person send an owl? She looked up at her mother. She too was confused. They read the list of materials, and where to get them. Apparently, the shady-looking pub was the entrance to the Wizarding World.
"Well," Hermione said, "This certainly has been an interesting turn of events."
