1Lily stared at the great hall in wonder and terror. Tomorrow she was leaving for the last time, and she could scarcely believe it. The day she came to the school for her Seventh year seemed so close and she felt like crying with the knowledge that she would have to leave the only place she could ever call home. A tear slipped down her cheek and she turned to go to the common room to sleep in her four poster bed for the last time. As she turned she ran strait into James Potter.

James Potter, her one time enemy and now best friend looked at her, a frown on his face. She quickly wiped the tear that had escaped and smiled at him. "Why so blue?" she asked, her voice falsely cheery.

"For the same reason you are, we are leaving forever" he replied. "I have to leave this beautiful castle for an uncertain world where I never know whether or not the next corner I turn will be my last."

It was true, these days a crazed, power hungry dark wizard who called himself Lord Voldemort and his followers the death eaters had decided to rid the world of muggles and muggle born witches and wizards like herself and anyone who got in their way. It was a scary world out there now.

"And the worst thing is I have to leave you to this world, I may never see you again, if your moving to France, and not knowing if you are safe is going to kill me. You know I lo-"

"James, don't start this again." Lily interrupted warningly.

"Why Lily, you know how I feel about you, saying it won't change anything for you or me."

Lily blushed. "Well that's the thing, I'm afraid it might change something for me." She looked at him then looked away and a slight smile lit James' face.

"Are you saying you may..."

"James, I'm leaving this school tomorrow and for France in three days, chances are you will never see me again."

James lifted her chin and looked into her eyes. He kissed her softly. "You never know, I could come visit you or move there or..."

To James' surprise (and happiness) Lily put her arms around his neck and pulled her self closer. "It's just dreaming James', its not something that will likely happen and I don't know why I am doing this" She kissed him softly and pulled him into the nearest classroom.

James' smiled sadly and kissed her back. Their soft kisses became more passionate and desperate. James' slid his tongue into Lily's mouth and his hand under her shirt. She moaned. She could feel his every muscle and curve pressed into her body. James unzipped her pants and she gasped and pushed him away.

"Not now James, please, I don't know what this is but I know whatever it is it can't last, I may never see you again."

"Exactly." James said "I don't know if I ever will see you again or how much longer either of us will live, I want to be with you, Lily, joined as one spirit, whole and pure."

Lily started crying softly, tears flowing down her cheeks but she still managed to smile and say "I hope you realize how cheesy that sounded, like a really really bad romance novel"

James attempted a laugh but it came out as a muffled sob. "Let's just have tonight, and we'll worry about tomorrow tomorrow."

Lily smiled and surrendered to James' touch, dreading tomorrow but savoring tonight.
