Two Broken Fools
Chapter one: Alone
I wake up to see two large green eyes staring into mine. A normal person would be startled by a dragon's face in theirs, but I was used to it, and I was hardly normal.
"Hey buddy." I said reaching up to scratch his neck.
Toothless stretched his neck out so I could scratch behind his ears. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the affection until I stopped.
I sat up and go off my bed, trying to ignore Toothless' expression. I looked at him and chuckled. I shooed him outside then went to find breakfast for him. I saw him through the window, looking rejected. I simply shook my head. For a massive beast, he could be a huge baby.
I wondered how Toothless lived before I caught him. Was he as lonely as I was? I winced remembering that I had handicapped him that day.
I guess I would assume that he was alone; I mean he's the only known living Night Fury. And I… was well, me.
I shock these thoughts away, they didn't matter anymore. We had each other, and we had Astrid. And although Toothless wouldn't admit it, he actually liked Astrid. She was the only person who was allowed to ride Toothless, or really, the only other person who toothless let ride him. Plus, she brought him fish.
I walked outside with a bucket of assorted fish and placed it in front of Toothless. He looked up at me with his big green eyes. I nodded towards the bucket and he started to eat the fish. He looked up and held one in his mouth, offering it to me. I declined and laughed. He let out one of his dragon laughs and continued to eat the fish.
I simply smiled. Who knew that a lonely teenage Viking and a lonely dragon would make such a good pair?
