Get out of my house! You are not my son! My son is not a monster!

Embry shook in the freezing rain outside what had been his home for the past few years. He drew in breath after breath; the one's coming out creating little clouds of fog in front of his face. He wasn't cold physically, he didn't think he could ever be cold again that way… but emotionally… everything had frozen when she, his mother, had said those words.

Embry closed his eyes against the tears that threatened to fall and he turned away from the house. He needed to go someplace… anyplace… somewhere he belonged.

But where was that? His mother didn't want him, he didn't know who his father was, and he couldn't just show up at one of his friend's houses this way…

Quil.

He could go to Quil. Quil was his best friend and would always welcome him, he knew. He started to jog and then broke out into a run. The rain stung as it hit Embry's skin.

It only took a couple of minutes to get to Quil's house. The door opened as Embry stepped onto the porch, like Quil had been waiting, like he had known. Quil handed him a towel and Embry covered his face as his shoulder's started to shake. Quil pulled Embry into a tight embrace.

"…She…d-doesn't want… me!" Embry cried against Quil's warm shoulder. If possible Quil's hug tightened even more.

"She'll come around Em, she's just afraid. Fear makes people do stupid things. But I'm not afraid and I'll always want you."
