When the war ended and the dust was settling, Neville, Luna, and Harry worked tirelessly to help rebuild what was lost. Their bond that formed throughout school never faltered, and it was one of the few things that aided in their personal recovery while being presented as trophies to the wizarding world.

It was decided to implement a five year plan for them to rebuild, stabilize Great Britain, and plan. It was more than enough time to give to the society that looked to their generation to fix it all, and it gave them time to save and prepare to disappear together. The wizarding world would never let the two heroes rest and fulfill their dreams otherwise, but five years wasn't so bad, they decided.

Harry became an auror to finish cleaning up the streets of Voldemort supporters. Neville joined him instead of taking the apprenticeship with Madam Sprout at Hogwarts – something he once desired to do was put on the backburner for the sake of others. Luna did freelance work for The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and recorded the several creatures that lived in the Forbidden Forest so the faculty had a better record of what was actually living just outside of their grounds.

Firenze and his herd were a great help to her with this near-impossible task.

Five years felt like decades to the three. For the longest time Luna was often alone in Grimmauld Place while Harry and Neville were being worked to the bone for the first year and a half. Things started to settle after that, and late nights bundled under the blankets on the couch was something they did to make up the lost time.

After the third year, Harry was growing restless with his job behind a desk while Neville was still sent out on the field training the greenhorns. Harry hated it.

"I'm thinking Washington," Neville said one evening over dinner.

Harry looked at Neville, quirking a brow. "Where?"

"It's in America," Luna said, glancing between the two. "On the Pacific Coastline."

"Neat," Harry replied.

"It has great soil for agriculture, and is relatively balanced with several biomes." Neville continued.

"I like it," Luna said, smiling over at Neville. "I'll put it on our list of destinations and research it with Harry."

They both looked to Harry then, waiting for his thoughts on it.

"You know I'll be happy anywhere with you two, really. Even here," Harry said, popping a mouthful of green beans from Neville's garden in his mouth.

The three discussed their plans and arrangements for their future travels on the horizon, excited to be able to finally start their lives together and away from the hero worship that grated their bones.

Time in Great Britain was drawing to a close. Luna and Harry didn't want Neville to leave on the eve of an oncoming rainstorm, but he promised it would be his last mission.

"Three days, that's it."

So they waited for him.
