I do not own Harry Potter. Enjoy!
Alice's life is a living hell.
"But she goes to a magic school!"
Okay, so what?
Magic can't take away all of your problems.
(She knows this better than anyone)
If anything, it makes them worse.
(She wants to live with her non freaky husband and their perfectly normal kids)
And it's not that she hates magic, she loves it.
But it's destroying her life.
(At least, that's what she thinks)
Maybe she just doesn't want to admit the truth.
Sure, her mom left when she was eleven, but she left before the owl came.
(Alice doesn't remember it like that)
She'd never really shown signs of accidental magic when she was younger, and her mom was never home for them anyway.
(She knows that's not what happened)
Her mom used to come home late all the time, with her hair a mess and makeup ruined, smelling of another man's home.
(She worked long hours)
Alice has never been good at quidditch. She's also never been able to cook, knit, ride a bike, write books, draw, or swim.
Her thing is denial.
Orsohesays
Frank could never be more wrong about her.
She's not denying anything, she knows her own life story.
(She knows it the way she wanted it to be)
Her mother only left because Alice was magical.
(No, totally not because she was in love with another man)
It was Alice's fault, and her dad's too, for making her this way.
(And pregnant with his baby)
She drove her mother away from her with her abnormality.
(And six months later, she's married with a daughter?)
And then her dad leaves too.
(And it's her fault once again)
He went to join her grandparents in heaven, far away from Alice and all of her problems.
(Even he couldn't handle his freaky daughter)
Karma isn't the bitch, it's cancer.
(Alice couldn't save him because she *once again* didn't know how)
Scratch that, it's Alice who's the real biatch.
(She makes everything about her)
Her mother's gone and married, with a child Alice will never know.
And no matter how much she wants to hate her, Alice loves her mother.
(And besides, it's easier to hate herself)
And she may not want to admit it, but she loves her sister too.
(And all the other siblings she'll never know)
And so when she writes the letter, she reminds herself that she's doing this for her siblings and her mother, not herself.
(But why would siblings who don't even know her name care about a letter?)
Alice doesn't know, nor does she care.
So she sneaks out while her uncle Florean is busy with customers.
She escapes Diagon Alley and then-
And then she doesn't know where to go.
The muggle world is her mother's territory, not hers.
And she's as unfamiliar with it as muggles are with magic.
Alice has never liked not knowing something.
And so her letter lays forgotten amongst a sea of people in London.
And Alice goes back home, to the only place she's ever known.
fin.
