I don't own Hetalia or Sound of Music. But I wish I did. The universe would be a happy place. :]
On a fine spring day, one where the meadows are practically exploding with wildflowers, said flowers mingling scents flowing almost overpoweringly on the breeze; Elizabeta came to me.
I was in the midst of playing one of Mozart's wonderful concertos, when I felt her eyes on me. I immediately opened mine and gave her a warm smile, knowing that my typical reaction to those interrupting my music would only serve to aggravate her. Besides, I loved her. She was a worthwhile distraction.
I continued to play; eyes open now, staring intently at her face, knowing that she would wait for me to finish before speaking. As I carried on with the piece, I contemplated the plausible reasons for her coming. It must be very important for her to come now. She loves my music almost as much as I do. I watched as she slowly walked over to the window and gracefully leaned out of it. After a moment she pulled herself back in slightly and rested her chin upon her alabaster hand, her long hair cascading around her shoulders and down her back. As much as I hated to stop playing, I did. As the music wound down she moved from the window toward the piano and rested her arms on it.
Playing the last few notes I looked at her expectantly. She smiled softly at me. Roderich, I have been yearning to go outside all morning. Since it is such a lovely day will you go on a picnic with me? She asked pleadingly, smiling again. Her smile melted my heart.
An hour later I found myself walking through the sun dappled forest carrying a rather larger picnic basket. I was following Elizabeta, who knew these woods like the back of her hand. Suddenly she stopped a few feet ahead and turned back to me, smiling. I walked to her, and she accepted my proffered arm. Looking up at me she said teasingly Really dearest, you must learn how to keep up. Quickly standing on her tiptoes she kissed me playfully on the cheek, catching me completely off guard. She left me in stunned silence and skipped off further down the path a ways and slipped into the open meadow. I slowly walked towards the clearing, thoughts reeling. I stood among the fringe of trees, watching her joyfully twirl among the flowers, arms raised, eyes closed. The realization hit me that she enjoys nature as much as I enjoyed music. To her the rocks, trees, and flowers were my melodies, harmonies, and crescendos. She was completely and utterly beautiful.
A few minutes later she stopped and walked to where I had set up the picnic in her absence. Her cheeks were rosy from spinning, eyes sparkling with happiness. While she was frolicking I had found a sprig of edelweiss which I now gave to her. She smiled gratefully at me and took a moment to inhale its sweet floral scent. I slowly leaned toward her and gently took her hand. She quickly looked up at me in that wonderfully confused way of hers. I lightly cupped my hand around her cheek and passionately kissed her. A few seconds later my gentlemanly side took over and I broke the kiss. Her cheeks were rosy again and she shyly looked down, biting her lower lip lightly. I took her hand again and whispered into her ear: I am yours. Always and forever.
I always think of the Sound of Music when I think of Austria. I couldn't help but slip in the Edelweiss detail. :D
