Black Rose
By SMYGO4EVA
Out of all the Soul Reapers, it was known that he was the most formidable adversary, not to mention the most deadly. Kenpachi truly did as the rumors have foretold; he devoured the quintessence of the fallen to bask in his elation for combat and slain blood. Yachiru knew herself that she was only a child, but she acknowledged that blood spilling made Kenpachi happy, the blood of which came from the withered roses he had destroyed.
Death would come a' calling shortly, though blood spilling didn't make everyone happy. Just the opposite. The roses known as souls would wither in their grief, losing their trains of thought over the shock and incredulity. What did she know about death—she was too young to understand. Hypocrisy was human nature, after all.
Was Kenpachi's soul tainted? Yes it was, sadly. All roses are tainted. Simply letting the ruby liquid fall blackens even her soul, the descendant of one family unto another. Dear Yachiru, it is true that the sword he wields is drenched in the vitality of humans, but even he would become the black rose soon enough.
