Teal'c couldn't pinpoint when it happened but somewhere along the way his opinion changed. Very shortly after he joined O'Neill it was all he could do to keep his regret out of his demeanor – not that the practically blind would have seen it.
The first time he had been called 'Teal'c of the Tauri' he had wanted to cry – or more likely rip his accuser limb from limb. He was from Chulak. All his life he had been called 'Teal'c of Chulak' he was proud to bring notoriety to his home.
The idea that he had forsaken his birth by joining O'Neill… horrifying. It did not help that Teal'c's exposure to the Tauri showed him something less than desirable. Over time, however, Teal'c found it less insulting and more of an honour. He learned that "A few bad apples," as O'Neill would put it, was not an accurate show of the people of earth. In his heart he knew he would always be Teal'c of Chulak but he no longer felt anything but pride at his adoptive home and title.
Teal'c of the Tauri, he could think of no greater complement.
