Olivia sat at her desk. She had been staring at her empty coffee cup for the last 25 minutes and it still hadn't magically refilled its self. Sighing heavily, she rose and walked to the coffee pot and refilled her cup. As Olivia stirred her coffee, she sighed again. Cragen, who happen to be walking by at that particular moment, looked up, studying her carefully.
"Anything wrong Olivia?" Cragen asked gently, not wanting to irritate one of his best detectives first thing in the morning. Olivia looked at him for a moment and opened her mouth and then closing is a few times, looking much like a fish gasping for air.
"Nothing Captain, I'm good." Olivia answered before walking back to her desk and starting on the mountain of paper work that accumulated over the past week. Cragen watched her for a minute before shaking himself out of his thoughts and walking back to his office. Olivia wasn't the only one with paperwork to do.
The day progressed quickly. It seemed to be like one of those surveillance tapes stuck in fast forward mode, and everyone is rushing ninety miles and minute and you're the one standing still in the middle of it. At least that's what it felt like to Olivia. Glancing at her watch as she stretched, she noticed it was a little after 8 and everyone else had gone home, well everyone except herself that is. Olivia wandered over to her locker and picked up her purse and was about to pick up her coat when Cragen spoke up from behind her. He was still at his desk, watching Olivia pick up her stuff and get ready to head home when he spoke.
"I'm sorry Captain, what did you say?" Olivia asked.
"I was just wondering if you're ok. You seemed down today. Is everything ok?" Cragen asked again as Olivia wandered into his doorway.
"I'm okay I guess. I'm just feeling a little depressed right now.' Olivia answered.
"You want to talk about it?"
"There's not much to talk about. I'm lonely and I know that it's my fault that I am. Everyday I watch Elliot head home to his wife and kids and think ' Why aren't I someone's wife? Why don't I have kids to take care of?' Then I see John and Fin going out and having dinner with each other, going home with each other and being generally happy with each other and I think that there must be something wrong with me that I can't attract women either. I don't know. I guess I'm being stupid." Olivia shook her head and looked down at her hands.
"Have you ever thought that maybe you're waiting for that special person to love? I mean think about it. You could be like the people who go to 'Stand-Up John's' to relieve the tension." Cragen answered with a small smirk. Olivia rolled her eyes.
"Kinky. Do people have sex in bed anymore? You know privately with the curtains drawn?" Olivia asked with a smile.
"I'm sure they do, but where's the fun in catching those ones." Cragen answered. Olivia just smiled and made her way out the door. She could always count on the Captain to make her feel better.
