Some Ritsuka and Soubi fluff!

Loveless Oneshot: Useless

No matter how many times Ritsuka dialed, no one answered. Every time the voice mail clicked on Ritska snapped the phone shut in disgust. What a liar… that Soubi… He had said, he had promised that Ritsuka could always reach him by phone. Always.

The fact that Ritsuka could not reach Soubi usually meant one thing… he was fighting again… alone.

"Am I really that useless?" Ritsuka whispered as he lay down on his bed. "Am I really so useless that he doesn't want me at his side?" Curled up with the phone still clutched in his hand, Ritsuka fell asleep.

When Ritsuka opened his eyes, another pair gazed warmly back at him.

"Soubi!" Ritska shouted, sitting up.

"Shhhh," Soubi whispered, putting a finger to Ritsuka's lips. "It's the middle of the night, you'll wake someone."

Ritska brushed Soubi's hand away. "Where were you? Were you fighting again?"

The fighter, sitting on the floor, gave no answer.

"Tell me where you were!" Ritsuka hissed. "That… that's an order."

Soubi smiled a little. "I was fighting, but they were no match for me."

"Where are you hurt?" Ritsuka didn't even wait for an answer. He slid down off the bed and grabbed Soubi's arm. There were bruises on his wrists from being restrained during battle. Obviously the fight was not as easy as Soubi made it out to be. "Why Soubi?" Ritsuka asked pleadingly. His ears drooped and tears began to form in his eyes. "Am I so useless that having me there to help you isn't worth it? Is that why? Because I'm useless?"

Soubi took the boy into his arms. "No Ritsuka, you are not useless."

"Then why do you ignore me like that?" Ritsuka sobbed into the older man's chest. "You go off and get hurt and you won't let me help at all. And you lie to me! You said I'm supposed to be your sacrifice… I'm supposed to be with you when you fight."

"I love you, Ritsuka."

The boy struggled to break away but Soubi still held him tight. "Don't say that! You don't mean it! If you meant it you wouldn't go without me."

"I go without you because I love you," Soubi whispered.

"What?" Ritsuka asked, looking up into Soubi's eyes.

"I fight alone because I don't want you to be hurt."

Ritsuka frowned. "That still means I'm useless…"

"No," Soubi whispered, wiping the tears from Ritsuka's cheeks, gently caressing his face. "It's because I have you that I can be so strong, even when you aren't there. You're not useless."

Ritsuka's dark eyes widened. "Soubi…"

Before Ritsuka could argue, Soubi sealed his lips in a kiss.
