The silence was deafening. The crippling grief constrained her, and tore her insides apart. She was trapped, blinded, and mute. She was no longer attuned to her surroundings. So un-attuned that she did not notice when her body turned to face the direction of the sound of wet branches snapping that she had not heard. Panic. She clutched her stomach, battered and bleeding from the anguish, her mind short circuiting, and the pain threatening to swallow her whole. The faint hysteria in her eyes remained unnoticed by the cutting gaze he locked her in. She tried to pull her eyes away, but the effort exhausted her. She tried again and her eyes dropped to the ground. Her mind was playing tricks with her again, it must be. She looked up, again her eyes focusing on his dazzling amber ones.

"Bella."

Her distress escalated. Her knees buckled under her and she collapsed onto the cold wet ground. The sound of his velvet voice destroyed her, it echoed in her mind. She let out a bloodcurdling scream. The pain evident in her shrill scream was immeasurable. Her eyes were empty, her face ghastly and pale. She knew that she must do it, she must do it now. She rose up from the ground and stumbled towards the cliff's edge. As she looked out to the sea, for a moment she could hear the waves crashing, but they were silenced when she felt a hand on her back. She knew she was imagining the feeling of a hand turning her around to face it. She cried out in misery and pushed the hand away. She flung herself off the cliff. She realised that the figure had not dissipated once she had touched it.

A scream frantically calling his name echoed off of the rocky cliffs.
